Though it’s not the most glamorous step in our beauty routine, the humble concealer plays an important role nonetheless. From covering up pimples, hiding redness and thwarting dark eye circles, concealer builds an even complexion for foundation and everything else to layer on top. But what exactly makes a good concealer? Well, a great concealer should, of course, conceal, but it should also hydrate the skin, last all day, and be easy to use without caking, creasing, or drying out. I have a love-hate relationship with concealers and so when Holme Beauty’s Hytride Flex Concealer came across my desk, I was beyond excited to give it a try (spoiler alert: it’s quickly become the highlight of my beauty bag). Here’s why it’s become my favourite concealer to date.

What do others have to say about it?
“This is like no other concealer, it goes on, almost like water, and has so much pigment without any thickness or caking. I have dark eye circles and colour correcting and concealing usually makes my under-eyes look dry, creepy, and creasy. This is PERFECT and lasts all day even in 30+ degree heat.”
“I purchased this alongside the peach colour corrector. I have dark circles and I am very prone to redness. Both of these products make my skin look even and fresh. The concealer provides great coverage without feeling like you are wearing a cakey drying concealer.”
“Perfect for 40+ skin as it soaks in and doesn’t crease in fine lines. The number 6 brush blends the product in like a dream! My new favourite product!”

Results from our test
I decided to put the Holme Beauty Hytride Flex Concealer to the test during a week when I was dealing with heavy breakouts and dark circles from not sleeping well. I first went in with the peach colour corrector to cover up my dark, tired eyes and was blown away as I watched the violet circles practically disappear before my eyes as I patted in the concealer. Now that my skin tone was looking much more even, I went in with the shade Julia and applied it to the blemishes around my face. I did the rest of my makeup and then went in with the brightening concealer which I put on the bridge of my nose and on top of my cheekbones to give my face a very subtle lift.
I wore the concealer every day for a week straight for hours upon hours and was pleasantly surprised at how well it held up. I’ve tried it both on its own and with different foundations and tinted moisturisers, and honestly, unlike other concealers I’ve used, the Holme Beauty concealer played nicely with everything I paired it with. I also found that even though the formula is thick and quite full coverage, it didn’t crease or cake up under my eyes nor did it dry out on other parts of my face during the day.
Overall, is Holme Beauty Hytride Flex Concealer worth it?
When it comes to building out your beauty regime, there are a few non-negotiables you should invest in – and concealer is one of them. I’m a big believer that having a great concealer in your beauty arsenal is the key to having great-looking makeup. Though the concealer does have a hefty price tag in comparison to other concealers on the market, a little goes a long way with the Holme Beauty Hytride Flex Concealer. Beyond just being a concealer, this is a product that is packed with a tonne of skincare goodies which makes this product worth the cost.
