The 62-year-old actress, beloved for her role as Monica Geller in Friends, has been with the 42-year-old musician for ten years.

However, they haven’t been seen together since the US Open in September 2025. Almost a year later, People have confirmed their split, yet, their reps could not be contacted for commentary.

This unfortunately isn’t the first time Courteney and Johnny have split. After three years, Johnny called their engagement off mid-therapy session.

“I didn’t know it was coming, whether I should have or not,” Courteney shared in 2024 on the podcast, Minnie Questions with Minnie Driver. “He just broke up within the first minute. And I was like, what? We were engaged, and I was so shocked. I was in so much pain.”

Courteney began dating Johnny, a member of the band Snow Patrol, in 2013 after meeting at her house party. She was instantly smitten, and they got engaged just nine months later.

As previously mentioned, Johnny unexpectedly called off their engagement in 2015. In that same podcast, Courteney added “he was in that much pain in the relationship.”

They reunited a year later over lunch with Courteney’s daughter Coco, but didn’t continue with their engagement.

David Arquette

Courteney’s first and only husband was David Arquette, her Scream co-star. She portrayed journalist Gale Weathers, while he starred as police officer David Dewey.

The pair met at a pre-filming party, where David was instantly in love. Her feelings developed slower, but even she admitted they “fell in love on the first” movie in 2011.

However, they were supposedly just friends at the time because David was “too wild” for her. Until Scream director, Wes Craven gave him a push.

“[He was] like, ‘David, you know she likes you and you should really get your stuff together’,” he told People in 2022. “He gave me a real man-to-man talk and that had an impact on the course of my life.”

The couple were engaged in September 1998 and married in June 1999 at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Two became three when Courteney gave birth to Coco in June 2004; their first and only child together.

A few years down the track, the cracks began to show. Courteney confessed they’d been to couples therapy in the past, despite David saying there was “nothing” wrong with their relationship one month prior.

“I would never do anything to jeopardize our relationship, you know what I mean. I’m committed, and we’re honest with each other,” he told People. “Relationships take a lot of work.”

They began trial separation in October 2010.

“She says to me: ‘I don’t wanna be your mother anymore,’ ” David said on Howard Stern’s radio show. “I appreciated that. I respected that. I’ve been going to therapy. I’m trying to grow up.”

This separation continued for more than a year. Naturally they grew in different directions and filed for divorce in June 2012. The love and admiration for one another remains even to this day as they co-parent Coco.

Michael Keaton

The pair met in 1989 when Courteney told a mutual friend how much she admired Michael’s performance in Clean and Sober. After a first date in her home to avoid the media frenzy, the pair began dating.

After six years together, Courteney confirmed their split to People, stating, “It’s the most important relationship I’ve ever had, and I think he’s the most wonderful person I’ve ever met.”

Unfortunately, there is little information about Courteney’s relationship with TV producer Paul. Some suggest they dated for a year, others several. But they did look fabulous at the 1987 Emmys.
