Victorian Police have begun an investigation against Katy Perry after Australian actor Ruby Rose alleged she was sexually assaulted by the singer more than a decade ago.
Ruby made the allegations in a now-deleted comment shared on social media platform, Threads, while replying to a post about Katy’s response to Justin Bieber headlining Coachella.

“Katy Perry sexual [sic] assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a s*** what she thinks.”
The alleged historical sexual assault occured in 2010.
Ruby further detailed the alleged sexual assault while responding to a fan. In a separate response, she added, “I told the story publicly but changed it to be a ‘funny little drunk story’ because I didn’t know how else to handle it,” she said as per Variety.
On Tuesday night, April 14, Ruby, 40, confirmed she had officially filed a report on the matter.
“As of this afternoon, I have finalised all of my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved,” she wrote on social media.
“It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages, to other people’s experiences, but I’m not.
“This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporary move forward. I love you all so much.”

The following day, Victorian Police shared a statement noting an investigation was ongoing.
“Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD,” the statement read. “As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Katy’s representatives strongly denied the allegations in a statement shared with Variety.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” the statement read.
“Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
