Kmart recalls Christmas bedding over a chemical defect

Popular homewares retailer, Kmart, has announced a product recall of its Christmas bedding sets over a chemical hazard.

It’s Christmas time so people have been decking their halls and hanging fairy lights to get into the holiday spirit — and some have even been swapping out regular bedsheets for Christmas ones.

The two products are Anko’s Mr & Mrs Claus Reversible Queen Size Bed Quilt Cover Set and Christmas Elf Reversible Single Bed Quilt Cover Set.

According to Kmart’s recall and Product Safety Australia (a part of ACCC), the Christmas bedding emitted a strong chemical odour. It’s thought that the products were not cured properly during the manufacturing process. And furthermore, that Kmart’s Christmas bedding could cause harm to users.

Product Safety Australia advises you to stop using the Kmart Christmas bedding. You can return the quilt cover sets to the nearest Kmart store to receive a refund.

The affected products are:

  • Mr & Mrs Claus Quilt queen bed set (43435029)
  • Christmas Elf Reversible Quilt single bed set (43434862)
  • Merry Christmas Pillowcase (43434848)
  • Santa & Elves Pillowcase (43434855)
  • Christmas Quilt single bed set (43434879)

Not great timing ahead of the Christmas period. But if you have gifted these Kmart bedding sets to your own family or friends, it’s best to change your sheets and head to a Kmart near you now.
