For someone who has built a career celebrating love, Lucinda Light has never lost faith in it.
The former Married at First Sight favourite, wedding celebrant and relationship facilitator has spent years helping couples mark one of the biggest days of their lives. But when it comes to her own love story, she’s happy to let things unfold in their own time.
Speaking on The Australian Women’s Weekly‘s Love Stories podcast, Lucinda revealed she’s entering a new chapter of dating, one that’s far more intentional than ever before.

“I’ve probably officiated 20 or 30 weddings, but I do like to think that at the heart and soul of everything that I do, really, it’s about love. It’s about connection. It’s about human relating, like not necessarily even in intimacy, but relating other, like the love that we share with our friends and our family.”
Despite becoming one of Australia’s most beloved reality TV personalities after MAFS, Lucinda says romantic love isn’t the only kind that fulfils her.
“I’ve kind of come to realise that I’ve been loving tapping into universal love or love of the village, love of the beautiful community that I’ve acquired post-MAFS.”
“It would be the cherry on the cake to have a partner, but I don’t need one. I’m pretty happy and full with the life I’m living. You know, it’s, it’s in the manifesto, deep trust in timing, and when it happens, it happens.”
On Love Stories, Lucinda admits to our host, deputy editor Tiffany Dunk, that her previous relationships were driven more by curiosity than careful planning.
“I have been with the most gorgeous people. I’ve just had the most fantastic adventures,” she gushes. “I’ve squeezed the medicine out of each one and they me, and then it’s been on to the next adventure, and because I’ve been quite a traveller.”
But today, she’s looking for something different.
“For the first time, I would say I’m really wanting to cast the net for a life partner.”
Reflecting on her past, she says spontaneity often shaped her relationships.
“I think in the past what I’ve done is whatever’s been in front of me and sort of the adventure of that moment I’ve gone with… without much intention or thinking about the future.”
“Living in Byron, I dated a woman who was just fabulous. But they’ve all been sort of different incarnations of me and my growth and sort of unravelling and unschooling myself, pulling myself apart and going on these whimsical journeys with these people.”
Now, however, she feels she’s reached a place of clarity.
“Now these days I feel like I really know myself. I’m quite grounded in myself. I’m very inspired by what I’m doing in the world, and I know what I’ve got to offer.”
Lucinda’s spontaneous decision to apply for Married at First Sight came during a challenging period in her life.
“I was living in Byron Bay for four years. I was really focused on my celebrant and emcee business, and also Soulful Speed Dating. But I was living outside of my means… I just got to a point where I was broke.”
She’d barely watched television in two decades when she saw the casting call.
“I just thought, ‘Why not?’ I was just like, ‘What a wild thing that would be. Let’s just go for it.'”
She admits the experience and the aftermath were unlike anything she could have imagined.
“It shocked me more than anyone… It’s just been the most outrageous journey since, like, indescribable.”
Although she developed genuine feelings for her on-screen husband Tim, she says the greatest gift came after filming ended and the community she built off the back of her time on the show.
Lucinda has since appeared on Celebs Go Dating, which she says forced her to examine her own dating patterns.
“On Celebs Go Dating, people see a very different aspect of me… On MAFS, I was holding space for another, whereas this was like, ‘Why are you still single, Lou? What is getting in your way? What are your vulnerabilities?”
“It was a really good journey: funny, vulnerable, ridiculous. It’s the whole gamut!”
More importantly, she says, it encouraged her to start dating again, which she calls a “blessing”.
And yes, she’s officially putting herself out there.
“I’m on a dating app at the moment, and I had a digital date the other day!”
While she’s open to finding love, Lucinda says she’s no longer chasing it. Instead, she’s trusting that the right relationship will arrive when the timing is right. And when it does, it will simply add to a life she already loves.
