Hollywood has paid tribute to actor and director Rob Reiner following his shock death in Los Angeles home.
Rob was 78 when he passed away with wife Michele, 68, who was also found dead.

In his lengthy career, Rob has worked on some extraordinary projects alongside Hollywood’s most talented actors. Many of who have shared tributes, honouring his memory.
Meg Ryan shared an image of the pair dancing on the set of When Harry Met Sally, writing, “Oh how we will miss this man…”
“Thank you, Rob and Michelle, for the way you believe in true love, in fairy tales, and in laughter. Thank you for your faith in the best in people, and for your profound love of our country.
“I have to believe that their story will not end with this impossible tragedy, that some good may come, some awareness raised… I don’t know, but my guess is that they would want that to be hopeful and humane, to be something that brings us all to a greater understanding of one another and to some peace.”
Jamie Lee Curtis, who worked on The Return of Spinal Tap and New Girl with Rob, wrote on Instagram: “I will always remember them as they lived. Passionate. Political. Surrounded by family and friends.”
“Rob and Michele were a united team. We all went to Stonehenge to shoot the final Spinal Tap concert. Rob directed. Michele produced. I took this image of their beautiful partnership and love and stunning appreciation that this creative, familial life had led them there. This is an ungraspable tragedy and loss. Pray for strength for their children. The world is bereft without them.”
Additionally, she shared a joint statement with her husband Christopher Guest, who also worked with Rob, noting they were “numb and sad and shocked about the violent, tragic deaths of our dear friends Rob and Michelle Singer Reiner.
Jamie and Christopher explained they would be doing anything possible to support their children.

“There will be plenty of time later to discuss the creative lives we shared and the great political and social impact they both had on the entertainment industry, early childhood development, the fight for gay marriage and their global care for a world in crisis… We have lost great friends. Please give us time to grieve.”
Many cast members from A Few Good Men also shared tributes, including Demi Moore.
“There are no words to truly express the unfathomable devastation of losing Rob and Michelle Reiner. Our kids grew up together, we worked together, and as our lives intertwined personally and professionally I will always cherish the moments and memories of what we shared,” Demi confessed. “They were amazing people and wonderful parents who gave of themselves to make the world a better place.
“My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with their family, friends, and all that are affected by this tragedy.”
A Few Good Men’s Kevin Bacon was on the verge of tears in an emotional video shared on Instagram.
“But Rob Reiner gave me a job in ‘A Few Good Men.’ Sometime in the ’90s, I guess it was. I was over the moon to get that job — people may or may not know but ‘This Is Spinal Tap’ is my all-time favourite movie and when he called me, I was just so thrilled,” he recalled.
“He was so fun… we had lunch together every day. I’ve never done that with a director before or since, I’d never gone to have lunch. And Michele would be there, and the two of them were so great together. So I’m just sending love to everybody that knew him because I know that everyone’s hurting today.”
The Princess Bride’s Robin Wright revealed she was “deeply shocked” and “devastated” by the news.
“I cannot begin to imagine what the family is experiencing or what they will have to endure in the months and years ahead. It is truly heartbreaking,” she wrote.
“Rob was one of the most loving, compassionate, and kind people I have ever known. He was an extraordinary director and the impact he had on me has stayed with me throughout my career. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”
Paul McCartney wrote, “It is so shocking in many ways but for me especially so, because over the last year I had been working with him. He directed me in ‘Spinal Tap II: The End Continues’. He was such an upbeat, lovable man.”
Tributing his legacy was Ben Stiller who revealed Rob was one of his “favourite directors.”
Author Stephen King was “horrified” and “saddened” by the news of Rob’s passing, writing, “Wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker (including two of mine). Rest in peace, Rob. You always stood by me.”
