Jennifer Lopez has officially filed for divorce from Ben Affleck.
Per legal docs obtained by TMZ, on August 20 (which happened to be the couple’s second wedding anniversary), JLo filed without an attorney and listed the date of her and Ben’s separation as April 26, 2024.
Jennifer and Ben undoubtedly have one of Hollywood’s most fascinating love stories, marked by its dramatic ups and downs.
The couple first met in early 2002 on the set of the romantic comedy Gigli where their on-screen chemistry blossomed into a real-life romance.
Dubbed ‘Bennifer’ by the media, their relationship quickly became a tabloid sensation.
Ben and Jennifer got engaged in November 2002; Ben proposed with a stunning 6.1-carat pink diamond ring by Harry Winston that reportedly cost US$2.5 million.
But Bennifer’s high-profile relationship faced intense media scrutiny, which ultimately led to them postponing their September 2003 wedding.
“Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date. By January 2004, Ben and Jennifer had called off their engagement, citing the intense media attention as a significant strain on their relationship.
Fast forward to nearly two decades later, and the world was stunned when rumours of a rekindled romance between Ben and JLo began to surface in early 2021.
By July 2021, the couple confirmed they indeed were together again and made their red carpet return at the Venice Film Festival in September 2021.
