The tennis world’s golden couple, Australia’s Alex de Minaur and the UK’s Katie Boulter, are set to tie the knot this year. Ahead of their performance at the Australian Open, Katie shared some details about their wedding plans.
The couple first got together in 2020 and announced their engagement four years later in December 2024. Find out more about their relationship here.
“I’ve not been a massive dreamer about my wedding,” Katie said to The Telegraph. “As long as my family are there, I’ll be happy.”
“I did sort of dream about a destination wedding,” she added. “Having a place you can go back to that’s your place. So it’s possible it’ll be in the middle of nowhere.”
And it looks like they’ve landed on a spot!

Read on for all the details we know about their wedding.
Where are the couple getting married?
Alex de Minaur has previously said that they won’t marry in either Australia or in Katie’s homeland, the UK, so it appeared a destination wedding was on the cards!
Katie has now given a little more detail on the location, saying that the two will wed in Europe. Fans have speculated that the two will marry in Italy, as it’s a frequent holiday destination for their families.
Following Wimbledon 2026, Katie posted a carousel of images to Instagram, which appeared to be a wedding venue. With it’s lavendar bushes, trailing vines, and terracotta roof, it’s definitely giving Tuscan villa. Considering the day before, she posted a series of pictures of the two holidaying in Florence, Italy, that’s our pick for their wedding location.
However, Alex popped the question while on holiday in Alicante, Spain, so they could return there to exchange their vows…
Wherever it ends up being, Alex shared in an interview with Body+Soul that it would be a simple affair.
“We’re going to keep it quite close, quite private, and it’s going to be a great time,” he shared in an exclusive interview.
In a post-game interview
at the Australian Open 2026, Alex also reiterated the balance of their relationship and how Katie will be organising the day.
“This is a 50-50 relationship, so honestly, the fact that we’re both tennis players [means] we are both doing as much as we can together,” he said. “I have been making some of the decisions so far. But when it comes to the details like napkins and flowers, that’s not my forte.”
He also signed her name and a heart on a camera. Cute!

When are Katie Boutler and Alex de Minaur getting married?
They’ve both indicated that their wedding will be in 2026. After Wimbledon 2025, Katie posted a carousel of images to her Instagram, simply captioned: “2026”. Katie’s birthday is in August, and if they are planning for a European wedding, that would fall right in the heart of summer.
Furthermore, it would fall after Wimbledon and before the US Open… Considering that they were at a wedding venue in what appears to be Florence in July 2025, perhaps we should mark our calendars for 15 July 2026…
However, in an exclusive interview with Body+Soul, Alex shared that their careers come before their relationship.
“We both know what our priorities are,” said Alex, aka “The Demon” in the tennis world. “We said this on day one of the relationship: we put our careers first.”
As they are both professional players, they can relate to each other when it comes to the stresses of their jobs. But they also don’t blame one another if the other is recovering and misses their matches.
“The great thing is we know what the other person is going through. We know those feelings, the deepest, darkest fears, and when we’re feeling great or not feeling good about ourselves. That’s where we can really help each other.”

Are Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur competing in the 2026 Australian Open?
Yes, both tennis players are playing in the 2026 Australian Open. Katie is unseeded for the tournament. Whereas Alex de Minaur is among the top-seeded Australians at the AO. He’s headlining the home men’s singles draw and seeded sixth.
Katie has been promoted into the main draw of the Australian Open as an alternate, meaning she’ll compete in Melbourne without playing the qualifying rounds, a key boost for her season start. Earlier reports had her just outside direct entry due to her ranking, but this alternate spot secures her place in the first round.
In the lead-up to the Australian Open, she competed in Auckland but was defeated in the early rounds of the tournament.
Katie was eliminated in the first round of the women’s singles at the 2026 Australian Open. She faced No. 10 seed Belinda Bencic, a very strong opponent on current form, and lost 6-0, 7-5. However, she’s been spotted supporting her fiancé, Alex, from the sidelines and player box.
Alex de Minaur has just reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Open for the second year in a row. He beat No. 10 seed Alexander Bublik in the fourth round, 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 in about 92 minutes at Rod Laver Arena. Alex dominated from start to finish, neutralising Bublik’s big game and showing some of the best tennis of his AO career.
He’s into the quarter finals with world number 1, Carlos Alcaraz.
