Whether it’s a boost in confidence or some much-needed R&R, going to the salon can be therapeutic. However, with nails, brows, lashes and hair to do, the cost of going to the salon can quickly get out of control. As the cost-of-living skyrocketing and our lives becoming busier than ever, people are embracing the convenience and cost-effectiveness of doing beauty treatments from the comforts of their own couch. From acrylics to brow tinting, here’s all the beauty services you can do at home.

Acrylics

Average salon cost: $60

At home cost: $25

Acrylics can strengthen and enhance the look of your natural nails. If you don’t have the hours to spare to get them done in the salon, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can now DIY a set of acrylic nails from home.

Press-on nails are a great (and super convincing) alternative to salon acrylics. Not only that, but they take less than 15 minutes to apply and can last up to two weeks making them one of the easiest beauty services you can do at home.

Manicure

Average salon cost: $35

At home cost: $50

Getting a manicure can be a relaxing hour out of your day to unwind and treat yourself. However, if you’re strapped for time, a trip to your manicurist may not always be possible.

You can do a DIY manicure from the comfort of your couch with an inexpensive kit from Amazon. Whilst it may cost slightly more than a one-off trip to the salon, an at-home manicure works out to be more cost-effective in the long run.

Tanning

Average salon cost: $60

At home cost: $25

Whether you’ve got a big event on or you’re just wanting a touch of healthy glow to your skin, tanning is a staple beauty service found all over the world. Depending where you go, a spray tan can cost as much as $100.

Tanning from home can cost as little as $25 for several applications. If you don’t want to commit to a whole tanning routine you can use tanning drops or a gradual tanner for a no-stress application.

Eyebrow tinting

Average salon cost: $40

At home cost: $20

Eyebrow tinting is the secret to having perfectly defined, strong brows that will save you the hassle of filling them yourself in every morning. Whilst it looks amazing, eyebrow tinting is one beauty service that has crept up in price over the last few years and can cost up to $50 to get done.

You can tint your brows at home for a fraction of the cost and time it takes to go to the salon. Simply pick out an over-the-counter brow tint, paint the tint over your eyebrows, wait, wipe it off and voila! Salon quality brows at a portion of the price.
