There’s nothing better than watching a Christmas movie during the festive season.
It’s an easy way to entertain the kids and get yourself into the holiday spirit — but only if you pick a film that’s worth your time.
And so, to take the pressure out of selecting from the many Yuletide titles Netflix has to offer, The Weekly has done the hard work for you…
And by that we mean we’ve rounded up the best Christmas movies Netflix Australia has to offer below!

The Polar Express
Director: Robert Zemeckis
Starring: Tom Hanks
Genre: Animation, Family
Release: 2004
The Polar Express is a great Christmas movie to watch with the whole family. It follows a young boy, who hops aboard a magical train to the North Pole despite his growing scepticism about Santa Claus’ existence.
However, if you need more convincing, it was nominated for three Oscars. But ultimately, The Polar Express is charming and full of Christmas spirit. Furthermore, Tom Hanks gives a phenomenal voice-acting performance.

Genre: Comedy, Romance
Release: 2020
After a chance encounter during the Christmas season, Sloane and Jackson decide to be each other’s dates for every major holiday to get their parents off their backs about being single.
Yes, Holidate is a tad predictable and (spoiler!) Sloane and Jackson do end up developing feelings for one another, but it’s still an enjoyable watch. Kristin Chenoweth in particular steals the film with her performance.

Family Switch
Director: McG
Starring: Jennifer Garner, Ed Helms, Rita Moreno
Genre: Comedy, Family
Release: 2023
Family Switch is basically Freaky Friday set during the holidays — and we mean that in a good way! A mother and daughter, and a father and son switch bodies and learn how hard each other’s lives are all while trying to get back into their own bodies before Christmas.
Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms really show off their acting chops in this film. Jennifer’s extremely believable as both the stern mother and the soccer-loving daughter while Ed is great at playing the laid-back dad and nerdy son.

In this raunchy comedy, two office workers throw a Christmas party in an attempt to win a huge client after being told by the CEO that their branch will close if performance doesn’t improve. But chaos ensues when the party gets way out of hand.
