Carla Zampatti opens Australian Fashion Week 2025 with signature flair

The show was a powerful tribute to 60 years of style.

Australian Fashion Week 2025 opened with a stunning tribute to one of the nation’s most enduring fashion houses: Carla Zampatti. The show, titled Ubiquity, marked the brand’s 60th anniversary. It honoured the legacy of its trailblazing founder, who shaped the style of generations of Australian women.

The show was a powerful celebration of Carla Zampatti’s iconic influence, from the boardroom to the ballroom. The evening drew an A-list crowd, with fashion media, television personalities and industry veterans filling the front row.

“We were honoured to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Carla Zampatti show,” said Mattie Cronan, AWW Style Director. “The show paid homage to Carla in the most beautiful way, celebrating 60 years. The silhouettes were feminine yet strong. Luxe fabrications, feathers, polka dots, and colour choice were all iconic signatures Carla was known for.”

Recently, we sat down with Carla Zampatti’s family, who spoke about their mother’s enduring legacy.

“We’re trying to be the first eponymous second-generation fashion brand in Australia,” said Alex Schuman, Carla’s son. He continued that Ubiquity is “a celebration of the fashion industry, because Mum was really passionate about the whole industry”.

“There are so many designers, models, and photographers who got their first big break in Mum’s business. And so we really want to recognise and celebrate her altruism.”

The runway featured 60 looks, closing with 14 original creations by some of Australia’s most visionary designers — each interpreting Carla’s legacy through their own creative lens. Furthermore, designers, including Michael Lo Sordo, Pip Edwards, Toni Maticevski, and Akira Isogawa, lent their talent to honour the woman who inspired them.

Launched in 1965, the Carla Zampatti brand has become more than just a fashion label — it’s a symbol of empowerment, grace and timeless style. Ubiquity reflected that legacy, celebrating not just a woman and her designs, but the generations of Australian women who have worn them with confidence.
