Angelina Jolie may be known for the numerous films she’s starred in — like Mr and Mrs Smith, Girl, Interrupted, and Salt — and the generous humanitarian work she’s done over the years. Angelina is also the proud mother of six children.
“I was 26 when I became a mother,” she told Vogue in September 2023.
“My entire life changed. Having children saved me — and taught me to be in this world differently. I think, recently, I would’ve gone under in a much darker way had I not wanted to live for them,” she continued, likely referencing her highly-publicised divorce from Brad Pitt as well as her lengthy and still-ongoing custody battle with him.
“They’re better than me, because you want your children to be. Of course, I’m the mother, and hopefully that safe place for them and that stability. But I’m also the one that they laugh at — and I see them taking over so many different aspects of our family.”
But who are Angelina Jolie’s children, and what are they doing now? We have all the details on Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne below.
Maddox Chivan Jolie
Born on August 5, 2001, in Battambang, Cambodia, Maddox was seven months old when Angelina adopted him in early 2002. She was in Cambodia filming Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. She felt an instant connection with Maddox when she visited the orphanage he lived in.
Angelina adopted Maddox on her own, despite being married to Billy Bob Thorton at the time. And, when she and Billy split soon after, Angelina raised little Maddox as a single mother.
That was until Brad came into the picture in 2005 and he adopted Maddox too; however, as of 2024 — following Angelina and Brad’s separation in 2016 and eventual divorce in 2019 — Maddox is estranged from his father.
He previously studied at Yonsei University in South Korea, majoring in Life Sciences and Biotechnology, graduating in 2023.
Also as of 2026, Maddox is 24 years old and now building a career in his mother’s footsteps. He made a shocking move dropping the last name Pitt for his professional credits, debuted in Angelina’s film Couture.
Zahara Marley Jolie
Zahara was born on January 8, 2005, in Hawassa, Ethiopia but she wasn’t adopted until she was five months old.
Angelina and Brad both adopted Zahara in July 2005 (around the same time Brad adopted Maddox) and they brought her back to their home in the US, where Maddox instantly took to his baby sister.
“Mad loves her,” Angelina told Anderson Cooper at the time.
In 2023, Zahara publicly dropped her fathers last name from her own during her induction into the sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha at Spelman College, where she continues to study today.
While attending the college, the now 21-year-old paid tribute to the most “selfless, loving and understanding woman” she “gets to call mum,” in a heartwarming speech about mother-daughter relationships.
“When I was asked today to speak on the value of mother-daughter relationships, it felt challenging to find the words,” she admitted. “Not challenging because I don’t value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred relationship that could be hard to put into words.”
“I’m a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.”
Zahara continued to reflect on the values she was raised with her five siblings: “Helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people.”
“These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being,” she said of her Angelina.
Shiloh Nouvel Jolie
On May 27, 2006, Angelina gave birth to her and Brad’s first biological child, Shiloh.
Currently, Shiloh is 19 years old and regularly attends the elite dance studio Millennium Dance Complex, located in Los Angeles.
Following her 18th birthday, Shiloh’s petition to remove her father’s surname from hers was approved.
Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt
The second-eldest of Angelina’s children didn’t join the Jolie-Pitt family until he was three years old. Born on November 29, 2003, Pax spent the first few years of his life in an orphanage in Vietnam.
But in 2007, Angelina adopted Pax; Brad did not initially as it’s very difficult for unmarried couples (Brangelina didn’t marry until August 2014) to adopt under Vietnamese laws. With that being said, Brad adopted Pax officially in 2008.
As of 2026, Pax is 22 years old and works as a photographer. He was the set photographer for the film First They Killed My Father, which was directed by his mum Angelina and executively produced by his brother Maddox.
Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt
On July 12, 2008, Angelina gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne. Knox was born first and was named after Brad’s grandfather, Hal Knox Hillhouse. Vivienne came along minutes later and was named after Angelina’s mother Marcheline Bertrand.
As Knox and Vivienne are still rather young — as of 2024, they’re both only 17 years old — Angelina has kept them outside of the public eye. Although, Vivienne did play the younger Aurora (AKA Sleeping Beauty) in Angelina’s 2014 film Maleficent and Knox attended the 2024 Governors Awards with Angelina.
