Two years after welcoming her youngest child, actress Claire Danes revealed the shame she felt.
The Homeland star was 44 years old when she fell pregnant with her third child with husband and Hannibal actor Hugh Dancy.
“I was so old when that happened. I was 44,” Claire reflected on the SmartLess podcast with hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes.
“Well, it was actually really interesting because I did not foresee this at all. And it was weird. Suddenly I felt, like, a funny shame.
“I was naughty. I had been caught fornicating past the point I was meant to.”
Given fertility decreases with age, Claire didn’t think falling pregnant “was possible” at her age. While Claire agreed the pregnancy was a “blessing”, she was initially “terrified.”
A representative for the pair revealed the baby girl’s birth in July 2023 to People. However, the name of their daughter, who would now be two years old, has not been revealed.
How many children do Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy have?
Claire and Hugh share three children together: Cyrus Michael Christopher, Rowan, and their daughter.
They became parents on December 17, 2012, with their eldest Cyrus. He was thrilled about becoming an older brother to Rowan, who arrived on August 27, 2018.
Rowan, however, wasn’t thrilled about having a younger sibling. While on The Tonight Show in 2023, Claire confessed Rowan even suggested giving the baby away.
“But then we talked about how when the baby comes out, it’s gonna be pretty dumb, doesn’t know a lot. So, you know, it’s gonna need assistance and some educating,” Claire said. “That was interesting to him. He liked the idea of being a sort of condescending presence.”
When did Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy marry?
In 2006, Claire and Hugh first met working on Evening when on-screen romance between their fictional characters turned into a real life relationship.
They remained just friends for a while before diving into a relationship. But after dating for more than a year, Hugh dropped to one knee in February 2009.
In September 2009, Claire and Hugh wed in a private ceremony in France and remain together to this very day.
