Hero of the Bondi Junction stabbing attack, Inspector Amy Scott VA, has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. An appeal has been set up in her name which is already 120+ per cent over its goal.
Inspector Amy Scott was instrumental in bringing the fatal Bondi Junction stabbing attack to an end with absolute courage and bravery. She was nominated for NSW Australian of the Year 2025 as a result of her actions and her dedicated service to NSW Police for close to 20 years.
The news comes in the weeks when the Bondi community and the NSW Police force are still coming to terms with the Bondi Terror Attack.

The appeal, launched by her colleagues in NSW Police, describes her as a “beautiful friend and colleague”, “a devoted wife,” “a loving mother of two young boys” “selfless, compassionate, and one of the kindest people you could ever meet”.
“She is a genuine, bona fide Australian hero,” said NSW Premier Chris Minns. “[She is] someone we owe a huge debt of gratitude to, not just because of her heroic actions in Bondi Junction of a couple of years ago, but also she’s been an inspiration to the exact same officers that attended the [Bondi Beach] terrorism event on the 14th of December.”
In addition to the NSW Australian of the Year nominations, Amy also received the Commissioner’s Valour Award for her actions on that day at Westfield.
