Jeff and Rhi have just been paired on this year’s Married at First Sight (MAFS).
But like their fellow MAFS participants, Carina and Paul, the couple knew each other before entering the experiment.
In fact, Jeff and Rhi dated for a significant period of time before mutually ending things.
“It fizzled, but we remained friends… We’ve even gotten coffee together [since splitting up],” Rhi told MAFS producers.
“I was coming out of a long relationship and she was coming out of a long relationship. And, we sort of friendzoned each other,” Jeff explained.
The couple’s wedding ceremony was hilarious. They couldn’t stop laughing nor could the guests when they realised the two weren’t marrying at first sight.
A particularly funny moment occurred during Jeff’s vows. Vows he had obviously written thinking he’d be reciting them to a complete stranger.
And so, when Jeff said, “I make a mean pasta,” Rhi quickly (and cheekily) interjected with, “I know.”
Luckily for the MAFS experts — John Aiken, Mel Schilling and Alessandra Rampolla — both Jeff and Rhi weren’t too disappointed and are willing to give it another shot.
“Obviously, the experts matched us up for a reason,” Jeff said.
“We’ll have to really give the experiment a crack to see if there’s potential for a relationship rather than a friendship,” Rhi echoed.
Are Jeff and Rhi still together?
It’s extremely early days but, yes, it looks like the couple is still together.
