Paul and Carina from the 2025 season of Married at First Sight (MAFS) were one of the sweeter couples from this season.
Sure, they got off to a rocky start.
Right after their wedding ceremony, the two informed MAFS producers that they had gone on a date eight months prior and therefore, weren’t marrying at first sight.
“Is there another option? I know him,” Carina said.
“He ghosted me,” she then revealed.
Ultimately though, Paul pulled Carina aside and apologised for the way he treated her back then.
“When you and I met, I wasn’t ready to let someone in,” he began.
“I should’ve obviously communicated that a bit better to you… That’s what I’d like to apologise for,” he continued.
“I feel like this is the universe giving us a second chance.”
By the end of the night, Carina decided to give him that second chance and they shared not one but two kisses.
“I’m smitten,” she confessed to producers.
And as the experiment continued, their relationship blossomed. They were intimate and passed each task set by the MAFS experts with flying colours.
However, about halfway through the experiment, an incident occured off-camera: Paul punched a wall after Carina told an innocent anecdote about her sex life.
He was very apologetic to Carina, the other participants and the experts.
The latter of which held him to account, and banned Paul from drinking alcohol and mandated that he attend therapy every Saturday morning for the rest of the season.
So, are Paul and Carina still together?
Well, Carina ultimately forgave Paul, and the two seemed right as rain…
Until Paul told Awhina that he thought Carina could sometimes act like a “snob.”
Carina was understandably upset, but again, ultimately forgave Paul.
And the couple were extremely happy after this; the two were even talking about their future together, and Carina introduced Paul to her family.
But during the final week of the experiment, curiosity got the better of Paul.
The experts offered all partipants the chance to meet a potential other match.
Carina said no, reasoning that she was in a good place with Paul and thought meeting the other person was “cheating.”
Paul, however, opted to meet his other match: Hannah.
Of course, this led to a huge fight that wasn’t really resolved before the Final Vows.
And so, during the Final Vows, Paul begged Carina to forgive him and said he wanted to be with her outside of the experiment.
However, Carina broke things off.
“You threw it all away in a selfish act. You were given a test that you failed. In my eyes, that was the final straw,” she said.
“I can’t be with someone who makes me feel like I’m not enough… The trust is broken and I can’t come back from that. Paul, I was yours. You had me. But you ruined it and now you’re going to have to live with that for the rest of your life.”
Paul was speechless. He just broke down in tears.
“I’m so sorry,” he finally said. “I thought you were gonna be able to move past this one… I had hope.”
After a little more crying, Paul asked Carina, “Do you think you’ll be able to forgive me in the future?” She shook her head no and then walked away.
To put it plainly, no, Paul and Carina are no longer together.
The final two ‘Reunion’ episodes of Married at First Sight will air on Channel 9 and 9now on Sunday, April 6 and Monday, April 7.
