Australian comedian and author Judith Lucy, who is currently promoting her wellness book, Well Well Well…My Wellness Odyssey, has shared that she has breast cancer. It’s a little ironic, to say the least, and she’s embracing it in true Judith Lucy fashion.

“There’s nothing like releasing a book about wellness as you’re being diagnosed with breast cancer,” Judith says in her candid video. “Now fortunately, the book does not end with me going, ‘And I’ve never been healthier!’ In fact, kind of the point of the book is that there are no quick fixes, and we should just all be living differently.”

Judith candidly shared in a video update that she went to the hospital to pick up “yet another stranger’s turds” for faecal transplants to treat a virus she contracted in an ayahuasca retreat in the Amazon. An experience which she discusses in an extract from the book, which was published in the October 2026 issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly.

“I’d taken a break from my career to get ‘well’ physically,” she writes in Well Well Well. More specifically, to return to how she’d been living “before my health deteriorated.”

“I went on last Friday for a lumpectomy, and a doctor – I’m not making this up – called Dr Fun found more cancer,” she says with relish in the video update. “Dr Fun is amazing. I am in her debt, but we have gone from a lumpectomy to a mastectomy, which I am having Friday week.”

Clearly willing to get herself in ship shape as soon as possible, she is being very practical about the shocking news.

“I said, while you’re there, let’s get rid of the other one because, you know, I have had 40 years of, if I do say so myself, large and spectacular breasts. You had your chance, fellas!” she teases.

“I think I’m quite fine with going bra-free for my last chapter, and my last chapter is going to be very long and healthy.”

Judith does say that the cancer is in relatively early stages and relatively non-aggressive.

She ends her video by remarking on the irony of her cancer news in the midst of promoting her wellness book. She reads out the introduction:

“I know how lucky I am not to have a more serious health condition. If you have cancer or anything approaching that level of severity, I would stop reading now so that you don’t want to fire me out of a canon or tattoo Donald Trump as one sexy mother on my face next time you see me. Well, that problem’s solved!”

“I think we can safely say that the book that has come out is Well Well Well volume one,” she says before promising to keep Australia “abreast” of her cancer journey.

Friends and fans have flooded her comments with support.

“You are the most spectacular woman with or without those 10/10 knockers,” says comedian Celia Pacquola. “How do we preorder Well Well Well vol II? xxx”

“This sucks / we’re so fucking sorry / we love you / we all promise to order your book in honour of your norks xx”, writes author and screenwriter Benjamin Law.

“ou are my idol JL. Booked in my mammogram this morning. If you need anything… just shout out, and an army of us will be on board,” wrote actress Lisa McCune.
