Kristie first shared details of the wedding on her sister’s, and former US teammate, Sam’s, podcast The Women’s Game. In that episode, dubbed “The Wedding Episode!” by the Mewis sisters, Kristie shared details on the couple’s wedding.

Additionally, in a post on Instagram, Kristie shared a carousel of images captioned “Tomorrow”. In the images, she and Sam Kerr are both dressed in white, and their son, Jagger, is included in the final snap.

Kristie detailed that the wedding ceremony would take place in a private home in Perth and that only 120 people would attend.

“Obviously, it is a lot of people. I know people have way bigger weddings than that, but that’s a lot for me to wrap my head around,” Kristie shared. “Talking to 120 people in one night is a lot.” Adding that she worried that she wouldn’t be able to give enough time to all of their guests.

In fact, a lot of the Matildas were in attendance:

“It is in Perth, where Sam is from,” she added. “It’s away from the water, so I am a little bit nervous about the heat. It is going to be a very hot Australian summer.”

Off-camera, the Matildas star teases, “Wait till you get there…”

“The venue is a private home. It’s beautiful. We literally went there, and we were like, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible,'” Kristie described the venue, which the couple initially scoped close to two years ago, just six months after the couple started officially dating. “We saw the venue like a year and a half, two years ago, and they’ve done so many renovations and work to it. It’s absolutely gorgeous. It’s everything that we want it to be.”

The venue turned out to be Villa Dionysus in the Swan Valley region.

The sisters received some questions from fans, and one of them was when Kristie knew that Sam was the one. However, Kristie poses the question to Sam Kerr, who is off-screen, who admits it was “The day I met you.”

“We do talk about that all the time,” admits Kristie. “Obviously, it is easy for us to say that now, but like I think we both did know when we met each other. It was just like nothing that either of us had ever felt before. We knew very early early on.”

Because it’s a New Year’s Eve wedding, the couple are shifting all the celebrations to after midnight.

“The ceremony doesn’t start until later because it’s a New Year’s Eve wedding, so we kind of shifted everything later because we want to celebrate New Year’s Eve with everybody.”

Additionally, Kristie shared that she and Sam Kerr have written their own wedding vows for the New Year’s Eve ceremony. At the time of recording the podcast, she confessed that neither of them had started yet.

Furthermore, she confessed that because Sam has football games coming up, they won’t be able to go on their honeymoon right away. Instead, they may go to the men’s World Cup.

“I know [that] isn’t very honeymoonish, but Sam really, really, really wants to go, and I obviously want to go too,” Kristie said, “I think we could maybe do that, and then at the tail end of it or something, we want to tie in maybe like Mexico.”

Speaking of Jagger, Kristie shares that Sam is going to walk with him down the aisle first in a matching outfit before she walks down the aisle. Something she said is going to be “gut-wrenching” and very “sweet.”

“It’s going to be absolutely adorable.”

Kristie revealed that her dad will walk her down the aisle. But she isn’t having any bridesmaids, saying that she doesn’t want “anyone to have responsibility on the day”

Some paparazzi shots of the private ceremony have been shared by some media outlets, which reveal that Sam wore a tuxedo and her son Jagger, whom she carried down the aisle, also wore.
