Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge stole the show at the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in a figure-hugging gown the likes of which we’ve rarely see her in.

Stepping out with Prince William on Thursday night, the 40-year-old royal opted for a sleek black column gown with a contrasting white off-the-shoulder detail by designer Roland Mouret.

The gown perfectly accentuated the duchess’ tall, slender frame.

With her hair worn long and straight, Catherine kept her accessories minimal with a black clutch and matching pumps.

Her diamond drop set earrings by Robinson Pelham featured glittering star designs that were an instant fan favourite on social media.

Alongside her husband, Catherine looked regal as she walked between him and the film’s leading man, Tom Cruise.

The actor even offered Catherine his hand as she ascended the theatre steps in her form-fitting gown, the duchess taking it as she delicately navigated the walk in her tall heels.

Prince William was also dressed up for the occasion in a blue velvet blazer and even sent a subtle message with his footwear, paying tribute to both the Top Gun sequel and his own love of planes.

His dapper Crockett & Jones loafers were embroidered with F18 planes, which feature in Top Gun: Maverick, the film centred on a group of naval aviators in the US armed forces.

William has his own history with military aircraft, having served in the British Royal Air Force, where he flew helicopters and worked as a rescue pilot before turning his focus to full-time royal duties.

“We both love England and we’re both aviators, we both love flying,” Tom Cruise told My London of his and William’s shared love of aviation.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s glamorous outing comes almost a year after the couple attended another glitzy London film premiere for the James Bond film No Time To Die.

Catherine well and truly stole the spotlight that evening, donning a gold glittering Jenny Packham gown with a shimmering cape that made headlines around the world.

Though she opted for a more understated glamour at the Top Gun: Maverick premiere, there’s no doubt her ensemble will inspire many a minimalistic evening look from women everywhere.
