Jan Logan was a highly respected Australian jewellery designer. She was the founder of the luxury brand Jan Logan, known for its elegant, timeless designs. Her influence on fashion and creative industries in Australia is undeniable.

Sadly, Jan Logan passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in Sydney at the age of 86, surrounded by family. Her death was confirmed in a tribute shared on the official Jan Logan brand’s social media.

She began her jewellery career later in life, launching her first boutique in Sydney in 1989 at age 50, and grew her business into a nationally recognised brand with boutiques in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Her pieces were worn by international and Australian stars and became a fixture on red carpets and in fashion circles.

She was one of the first Australian designers to position fine jewellery as accessible luxury, rather than something only bought for major milestones.

“There is something deeply personal about jewellery,” Jan is quoted as saying on her brand’s website. “I want each piece to tell its own story. We design our collections around the idea that a jewel will be treasured and passed down—the ultimate celebration of a special moment.”

In 2022, she was also appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) for her contribution to the jewellery industry and philanthropy.

We were privileged to showcase her designs in many of our photo shoots throughout the years. Including Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki, who was the face of the Jan Logan Gatsby collection around the time of the shoot in 2013.

“Jan was a true visionary,” said The Weekly Style Director, Mattie Cronan. “A pioneer of the Australian jewellery and fashion industry. She combined her love of film, artisanal craftsmanship and female leadership to become the pillar of her family-led business.”

“Jan’s love of the arts saw her tap emerging Australian actresses as ambassadors early in their careers – women including Rose Byrne, Elizabeth Debicki, Phoebe Tonkin, Teresa Palmer, and Sophie Wilde, who have all gone on to become household names.”

“In my time as Style Director at The Weekly, I’ve adored using Jan’s jewels in my shoots – and look forward to continuing to do so in order to celebrate her incredible legacy.”
