Best for: lightweight and subscription-free smart ring

Similar to the Oura Ring, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR is another fitness tracker that could be mistaken for jewellery. It’s designed to be lightweight, at just 2.4 to 3.6 grams depending on the size, and tracks metrics including heart rate, skin temperature, sleep, steps, calories and stress levels.

It also gives you helpful insights, from your optimal caffeine window to ovulation predictions based on temperature, with a performance coach and – unlike the Oura Ring – no required subscription.

While its average rating from customers is at the lower end of the scale, at 3.8 stars from over 580 reviews collated by Google, more than 327 of them are five-star reviews. As one customer shared in a review from February 2025: “Some reviews said the ring disconnects from bluetooth and doesn’t capture all the data initially. Honestly I didn’t face any of these problems. It’s a really good product, looks great and goes with all my outfits. It’s waterproof which means I don’t need to take it out often and the best feature is the recovery score. Overall super happy with the ring and the app – its easy to interpret my readings.”

  • Up to six days of battery life

Is it worth getting a fitness tracker?

Whether or not a fitness tracker is worth it depends on your goals, budget and if you think you’ll actually use it.

The best fitness trackers offer data that can help you manage your fitness, wellbeing and overall health goals but some are more accurate and detailed than others. So the insights shouldn’t be viewed as a replacement to, for example, visiting your doctor and getting medical testing done when it’s needed.

But if you have specific fitness or wellbeing goals, or you’re just curious, then a fitness tracker can give you all kinds of insights and information to help you reach your goals – and plan new ones.

Bottom line? Some people love them and some people won’t touch them, but wherever you land on that scale, the most important thing is to find what works for you.
