While her performances have been overwhelmingly positive from the judges of the show, with her even emerging as an early favourite to win, fans believe that her experience as a professional performer gives her an unfair advantage.
However, Delta suffered a rib injury and is forced to miss the next round of Strictly and therefore may be out of the running.
“I’m absolutely gutted that a rib injury means that I won’t be able to dance on Strictly this week,” she wrote in a statement. “I’ve been loving every second of this experience, so having to sit this out is heartbreaking – especially after the high of Saturday night.”
“I cannot tell you how much I love being a part of this magical show. I’m going to focus on resting and recovering, and hopefully I’ll be back on that dancefloor very soon.”
As per the rules of the show, Dalta and her dance partner Kai Widdrington will go through to the next episode, when it’s hoped they will dance again.
Delta and Kai topped the leaderboard for two consecutive weeks, most recently scoring 33 out of 40 for their salsa. However, fans have repeatedly called out that she has an unfair advantage. Despite that, her own legion of followers are defending the performer. Plus, it’s not like she has ballroom experience!
This isn’t the first time, nor will it be the last, that the Eclipse singer has had to deal with criticism during her lengthy career.

(Credit: (Image: Instagram))But Delta, always a class act, has recently proved how to best handle negative comments: with respect. Ahead of her Innocent Eyes Australian tour, she took to Instagram to share her excitement.
“I haven’t played at @sydneycoliseum before so naturally [I] had to go check it out myself and my gosh what a Beautiful venue!!! Sydney! [I] can’t wait to kick off these intimate shows for the Innocent Eyes Tour there in September,” she wrote.
And while most fans shared in her excitement, some were less than impressed.

For context, Delta had a slew of shows scheduled in the UK and Europe, but had to postpone them at the last minute after doctors ordered her to rest her ‘overextended’ vocal cords. None of the cancelled shows was rescheduled, even though Delta was given the all-clear to perform. This was why multiple UK and European fans expressed their frustration at Delta in the comments section of her post.
“Will there [be] any announcement about the EU tour dates today, tomorrow or do we have to be in uncertainty longer?” one fan asked.
Another commented, “That’s so great…. Thank you so much for fulfilling your UK tour prior to your Maldives and Sydney shows, oh wait, well… Some of us made plans months in advance (time off, flights, accommodation), some of us didn’t follow through for other more glamorous gigs #LostFan #Disappointment #Crying #What”.
This comment in particular garnered a response from Delta herself.
The singer handled the backlash with kindness and respect, replying with thoughtful comments.

“It was very heartbreaking to have to move them. But voice health had to come first, the Maldives was always at the end of the Europe tour. Never in place of.”
But this wasn’t the only comment Delta responded to. One fan asked, “UK dates @deltagoodrem? It would be good to hear when they’re being rescheduled (if at all).”
Delta answered, “Any day now ❤️ We are all so excited for them! xxx,” ultimately proving that staying cool, calm and collected is one of the best ways to deal with criticism.
