Organisations and charities to consider when donating to Palestine

These are the not-for-profit globally recognised organisations providing relief in Gaza.

In October 2023 the pre-existing conflict between Israel and Palestine escalated significantly.

Continuous airstrikes on Gaza have seen the deaths of 360,000 Palestinians, resulting in world leaders and communities calling for a ceasefire.

Those affected by strict blockades are experiencing severe malnutrition, with scarce access to essentials such as water, food, and medicine.

With over three-quarters of Gaza’s population now displaced, we are witnessing an alarming humanitarian crisis that needs our support and immediate attention.

Where can I donate to Palestine from Australia?

With so much discourse, it can be confusing and challenging to understand which charities are reputable when looking to donate to Palestine.

AusRelief

AusRelief has been operating in Palestine since 2020. They’re a non-profit organisation actively invested in providing relief to the people of Palestine and mitigating the harsh reality of living in conflict.

Today, their teams and local partners continue to deliver critical assistance, medical supplies, psychosocial and emotional support, and hygiene kits to individuals and children in the conflict.

Palestine Australia Relief and Action

Palestine Australia Relief and Action (PARA) is a not-for-profit charity that helps Palestinian migrants and refugees seeking safety in Australia.

PARA was founded by Australian Palestinians and focuses on empowering other Palestinian voices. As an organisation, they are working collaboratively alongside state, federal and local government to ensure resettlement is a safe and financially viable option.

Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund

The Palestinian Children’s Relief Fun (PCRF) was founded in 1991 in the USA and today is the primary humanitarian organisation in Palestine.

They are a not-for-profit, volunteer-reliant organisation, with a mission to provide humanitarian aid and medical relief to children of all nationalities and religions where it is most required.

With over one million children in Gaza currently impacted by the scarce medical supplies, food and water.

In the past, PCRF has helped to establish pediatric cancer facilities and a PICU and pediatric cardiology department in Palestine, brining medical care to children in desperate need.

Olive Kids

Olive Kids is an Australian foundation created by Palestinian Australians in 2007. Run exclusively by volunteers their mission is to provide aid to the children of Palestine.

The support provided to these children is done so through partnerships with other organisations located in Palestine, which identify the present needs of the community.

Olive Kids works to build the foundations for local capacity, businesses and self-determination based on the communication received by those directly impacted by conflict.

Médecins Sans Frontières

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an international and independent medical humanitarian organisation.

While MSF has an organisation located and staffed in Sydney, it also has 25 other self-governed associations worldwide and operates programs across 70 countries.

Their mission is to deliver medical aid to areas and people affected by conflict, natural disasters, and barricades regardless of religion or nationality.

MSF strives to engage health professionals and administrators from the locations they are assisting. These staff work across three clinics in Gaza, mental health programs in Hebron, Nablus, Qalqilya, Bethlehem and Ramallah.

When medical assistance is beyond the technical capabilities and environmental possibility, cases are referred to MSF’s hospital in Jordan where permission is granted from Israeli authorities to leave.

Catholic Relief Services

The Catholic Relief Services works with organisations around the world to support transformative projects and vulnerable people in more than 100 countries globally. to help poor and vulnerable people overcome emergencies, earn a living through agriculture and access affordable health care

Their work is tailored specifically in response to particular emergencies, and the people they serve.

The Catholic Relief Services have provided humanitarian assistance in the Holy Land since the 1940s and continues today focussing on the distribution of personal protective equipment to frontline healthcare workers in Gaza.

Islamic Relief Australia

Islamic Relief Australia is a locally and globally certified organisation founded on Islamic belief. Today is one of the top independent organisations in the world.

Their humanitarian and developmental work focuses on fighting poverty and providing aid to those suffering from injustice.

Palestine Red Crescent Society

The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) is an officially recognized independent Palestinian National Society. It is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The PRCS is guided by the fundamental principles of Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary Service, Unity and Universality. They are the primary provider of healthcare, social services, and employment to Palestinians where it is required.

PRCS provides 24/7 Emergency Medical Services and promotes community-based first aid. Their programs also assist in disaster management, psychosocial aid, and rehabilitation.
