The Emily in Paris cast have revealed they’re dying for a Sex and the City crossover.
It makes a lot of sense as Darren Star created both series and Patricia Field worked on costuming for both too.
When asked by IMDb what show she’d want Emily in Paris to crossover with, Lily Collins, who plays the titular character, said:
“I would say the obvious but also genuine answer is gonna be Sex and the City just because naturally I feel like there’s a lot of crossover there.”
Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel in Emily in Paris, then chimed in and added:
“We’ve been talking about … having Kim Cattrall, manifesting her presence on Emily in Paris.
“But it would imply that there’s a substantial role for her to take on, and also [for] her to say yes to that idea. But I’ve been floating all day and dreaming about that opportunity and I hope it happens.”
Cast members Ashley Park, Lucien Laviscount, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and Samuel Arnold all then agreed that an Emily in Paris and Sex and the City crossover would be great.
But would it?
It’d certainly work from a plot point of view; Kim Catrall’s Samantha Jones was a public relations maven in Sex and the City so it’d make sense for her to cross paths with Emily who works as a marketing executive.
Plus, the Sex and the City reboot And Just Like That is set in the same time frame as Emily in Paris and established in the latest season that Samantha is living in London – you know, just a short way away from Paris.
Hmmm, the Emily in Paris cast might be onto something; here’s hoping Darren Star reaches out to Kim Catrall.
It’d be nice to get a reprise of her Samantha Jones role since she’s stayed well away from And Just Like That due to her feud with Sarah Jessica Parker… You can read more about that here.
