Flipping between the industrial city of Sheffield, England, in the 1980s and modern-day Sydney, Australia, Mix Tape has just dropped its first look images.
An Australian-Irish co-production that was shot across both hemispheres, Mix Tape follows the passionate teenage romance of Daniel and Alison, and is as packed with emotion as it is with classic hits. Having met in their hometown of Sheffield in 1989, the pair fall hard and fast… But as we fast forward to the current day, we find them living completely different lives (with completely different partners) on opposite sides of the globe. How did they get there? And what happens when they reconnect through their shared love of song?

Written by Jo Spain and directed by Australian director Lucy Gaffy, Mix Tape is a four-episode miniseries.

Is Mix Tape worth watching?
In this humble journalist’s opinion? That’s a big yes.
The series brought me right back to my own teenage years, which were set to a similar soundtrack. The cast is absolutely stellar, the writing kept me on my toes with a few twists that tugged on the heartstrings, and I felt satisfied with the four-episode journey. But don’t just take my word for it: The series recently won the TV Spotlight Audience Award at the 2025 SXSW Film & Television Festival.
