Better Man and Boy Swallows Universe led the AACTA Awards this year. Better Man won nine awards and Boy Swallows Universe scored a staggering 12 AACTA awards.

The subject of the movie is Grace’s father’s dementia diagnosis. Grace wasn’t expecting the win and so gave a powerful and passionate speech:
“I want to thank my sister Miranda, my brother Eddie, my mum who kept dad alive for the past five years being a caretaker…Alzheimer’s is a f*cked disease.
“Russell [Crowe] talks about inspirations. Dad is an inspiration… unfortunately, he does not know who we are but I also want to thank my dad, and there is always an amazing woman behind the man and that is my mum Sue.”
