All of the records that were broken at the 2024 Oscars

For instance, Cillian Murphy made history…

The 2024 Oscars are officially done and dusted. But what a night!

From Ryan Gosling’s phenomenal I’m Just Ken performance to Sally Field, Jennifer Lawrence, Michelle Yeoh, Charlize Theron and Jessica Lange all awarding Best Actress to Emma Stone, the ceremony was one of the best in recent times.

But that’s not all; according to USBets.com, multiple records were broken at this year’s Oscars.

Oscar records broken in 2024:

For starters, Cillian Murphy became the first Irish-born individual to win in the Best Actor category.

Whereas Mark Ruffalo is now the living actor with the most nominations in the Best Supporting Actor category without any Oscar wins (he’s been nominated four times for The Kids Are Alright, Foxcatcher, Spotlight and Poor Things but has sadly never taken home the golden statuette).

Justine Triet became the first French woman to win Best Original Screenplay.

And Diane Warren extended her record for the most nominations in the Best Original Song category without a win – she’s been nominated 15 times so far.

Furthermore, The Zone of Interest became the first UK movie to win the Best International Feature Film and The Boy and the Heron became the second non-English movie to ever win Best Animated Feature Film.
