For cinephiles, one of the most exciting times of the year is ‘awards season’, because we finally get to see which films and television series will be deemed worthy of a statuette.
The 2024 Golden Globes and Emmy Awards have already come and gone, but the crème de la crème ceremony of awards season, the Academy Awards (more commonly known as the Oscars) is now upon us.
Held on March 11, 2024 at the Dolby Theatre, the Oscars once again honoured outstanding achievements in various categories such as acting, directing, writing, and technical aspects of filmmaking.

Leading the 2024 Oscar nominations was Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, with 13 nominations, followed closely by Poor Things, with 11.
Comedian Jimmy Kimmel (who enlisted Barbie stars Kate McKinnon, America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling to star in a hilarious promo for the awards ceremony – that also poked fun at Barbie director Greta Gerwig being snubbed by the Academy) hosted the Oscars this year.
Read on to see the full list of this year’s Oscar nominations and winners, as well as everything else you need to know about the prestigious awards ceremony.
