What is the Paul McCartney documentary called?

Titled Man on The Run, the documentary “takes viewers on an intimate, vulnerable journey through Paul McCartney’s extraordinary life following the Beatles’ breakup and the formation of Wings with his wife, Linda,” according to the filmmakers. Directed by Morgan Neville (who has helmed documentaries previously on stars including Steve Martin, Anthony Bourdain and Keith Richards) the film takes the name of one of the best known songs from the band, which Paul and Linda began in the ’70s.

In the trailer, he opens up about the depression he felt when The Beatles broke up – an event that had shocked the world.

“The Beatles had been my whole life, really,” he explains. “When we split up, I thought I’ll never write another note of music ever.”

Now a dad and married to the love of his life, Linda McCartney, he was pondering his future. “I had fear of being a grown-up,” he says in the documentary. “I felt very depressed. But I was very lucky becuase I had Linda. I said, ‘If I form a new band, do you want to be in it?”

And so came Wings. Initally panned by critics, the band would go on to have a stream of hits including Live and Let Die, Silly Love Songs, My Love and – of course – Man on The Run.

“It was about trying to do something different,” Paul says in the trailer. “Wings was a dud when it first came out. If anybody badmouthed us, I was thinking, ‘I’m going to make the best album you’ve ever heard.'”

Man on The Run will examine this uncertain start and giddy rise, while also delving into the complicated relationship Paul had with his former bandmate John Lennon.

“Me and John, we were just growing apart really,” Paul recalls of his relationship with his fellow Beatle, who died in 1980 “And now we’re off on another journey. We’d had arguments and all of that, but we’d loved each other all our lives.”

The documentary will feature footage of all of The Beatles. George Harrison (who passed away in 2001) and Ringo Starr appear as well as John.
