The delightful soccer-oriented series Ted Lasso is officially returning for Season 4.
Apple TV+ announced the exciting news on March 15, 2025.
Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming season…
Will there be a Season 4 of Ted Lasso?
Yes! As mentioned previously, Apple TV+ has confirmed there will be a Season 4 of Ted Lasso.
On July 22, Apple TV+ confirmed that filming had started in Kansas City, the setting of the next season and the titular character’s hometown.
How many seasons of Ted Lasso were planned?
Fans long thought the series, which has won 13 Primetime Emmys to date, ended in 2023.
The final episode of Season 3 saw the titular character, played by Jason Sudeikis, leave AFC Richmond to return to the US to be closer to his son. It was a seemingly concrete conclusion to the story.
Furthermore, right before the third season premiered, Jason Sudeikis told Deadline that he and fellow Ted Lasso developers Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly originally planned for the series to only go for three seasons.
“This is the end of this story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell,” Jason said.
Clearly though, something has changed!
When does Ted Lasso Season 4 premiere?
Apple TV+ has confirmed the fourth season of Ted Lasso will premiere on August 5, 2026.
Who’s returning for Ted Lasso Season 4?
Excitingly, Jason Sudeikis is set to return!
“As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap.’ In Season 4, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be,” he said in a statement.
Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift – who respectively play AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Walton, pro-footballer Roy Kent, Coach Willis Beard, and Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins – have all signed on to return for Season 4 too.
And the studio later confirmed Juno Temple, who plays the loveable Keeley Jones, will return.
Cast members not expected to return sadly include and Nick Mohammed as Nate Shelley, Phil Dunster as footballer Jamie Tart, Sarah Niles as Dr. Sharon Fieldstone, Anthony Head as Rupert Mannion, Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya, Cristo Fernandez as Dani Rojas, Kola Bokinni as Isaac McAdoo, Billy Harris as Colin Hughes, and James Lance as Trent Crimm.
Joining the cast are Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely (who will play Ted’s son, Henry).
What is the plot of season 4 of Ted Lasso?
As previously mentioned, the season 3 finale seemingly completed the Ted Lasso storyline.
Hannah Waddingham spoke with Variety about the upcoming season and gave the following account:
“It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we’ve exhumed it, and I am here for it. I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She’s my girl. She’s in my bloodstream, so I’m thrilled that it’s been exhumed.”
According to Apple, season 4 will see Ted return to Richmond to coach a second division women’s football team. In what Apple says is “his biggest challenge yet”.
Furthermore, Ted and the team will “learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.”
