In an unforgettable night full of powerful performances, Yung Milla was crowned the winner of The Voice Australia 2026.
“I just can’t believe it. I’m just so grateful,” the Darwin-raised singer said.
“I came here as a rapper from Darwin to share my story, my struggles, things that happen where I’m from and reach different audiences around Australia.”
The rapper won hearts around the nation with his powerful storytelling and commitment to the Aboriginal community. For his Blind Audition, he performed his brother’s song, All My Life.
His rendition of Men At Work’s Land Down Under which blended didgeridoo, choir, storytelling and an original rap secured his spot in the Grand Finale. The song was dedicated to his mum, who was his “rock” and credited her with teaching him everything he knows.
But his final solo performance of Tupac’s Changes secured his crown. Joining him in the Grand Finale were Daisha Auda, The 60Four and Tommy Novak, each under the wings of their coaches Richard Marx, Kate Miller-Heidke and Ronan Keating.
The newly crowned champion thanked his coach, former Spice Girl Melanie C: “You’ve made me stronger as a person, as an artist, and I couldn’t be prouder. I’m doing it for my people.”
As the winner, Yung Milla takes home an incredible $100,000 in prize money and an all-inclusive recording development package which includes production, recording, mixing, mastering and access to A&R and label services.
But the 22-year-old made Voice history as the first rapper to ever win the reality series.
Reflecting on his impact, Mel C, shared, “I think you being on this show has changed what The Voice means. Historically, we’ve always thought of a big singer, but it’s about having a voice and using it very powerfully.”
“Yung Milla has evolved so much in this competition. His confidence has grown. He’s a superstar. He was always a superstar, but now he believes it.
“He’s using his voice for good. It’s been a privilege getting to know him and his mum. You’ve rocked my world, Yung Milla.”
Later, Yung Milla joined Mel C to beautifully perform Never Be The Same Again.
