If you are a fan of Margot Robbie and Formula 1 race driving, then mark your calendars because the two are combining in an upcoming prequel to Ocean’s 11.
Starring Australian actress Margot Robbie in an as-yet-unconfirmed role, the film is set to take place at the pinnacle of the Formula One calendar: the Monaco Grand Prix.
At CinemaCon 2026, Margot reportedly confirmed some of the plot details in a reel for the film’s presentation.
“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows — his parents,” Margot teases in the video. “You’ll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”
This has led us all to believe that Margot will star as Danny Ocean’s mother! She is also producing the film.
Ocean’s Eleven (or Ocean’s 11) is a 2001 heist comedy flick directed by Steven Soderbergh. It was actually a remake of the 1960 Rat Pack film. Ocean’s Eleven stars George Clooney as the titular Danny Ocean. It sparked two sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen. Then, in 2018, there was a spin-off led by Sandra Bullock alongside Cate Blanchett, Ocean’s 8 in 2018.
Danny Ocean is a professional thief. He reunites with his old friend Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt), and they, along with their own rat pack, plan an intricate heist of three casinos. In the spin-off, Sandra Bullock stars as Deborah “Debbie” Ocean, Danny’s younger sister, who also reunites with an old friend (played by Cate Blanchett) to plan their own heist.
Joining her in the cast are Bradley Cooper, who is also directing after two other directors dropped out. He is believed to be portraying Danny’s (played by George Clooney) and Debbie’s (played by Sandra Bullock) father.
Fans of the Ocean’s franchise are spoiled for content in the coming months. George Clooney is also working on another sequel, Ocean’s 14. This new film is set to star some of the original castmates. So farm that includes Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Julia Roberts, and Don Cheadle. There’s no word on whether any of the castmates from Ocean’s 8 will star in Ocean’s 14. However, with big names like Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, as well as Sandra and Cate on the roster, expect a cameo at least.
Margot’s prequel is yet to be titled, and the screenplay (by Carrie Solomon) is still in the works.
