Princess Diana’s brother Charles Spencer has married archaeologist and podcast co-host Professor Cat Jarman.
Charles, 61, and Cat, 43, wed in a private ceremony in Arizona on May 15, with Sedona’s iconic Cathedral Rock setting the scene for their wedding photos.
For the joyous occasion, Cat donned a pale blue gown with cutout details at the waist, paired with gold heels. The 9th Earl Spencer wore a dark suit with a light blue shirt.
“15 May 2026 – the happiest day ever,” Charles wrote on Instagram. “A very close friend said to me, months ago: “The thing about Cat is, she’d want to be with you if you lived in a hut.”
“Little did I know she’d also be happy to marry me in a desert 🌵
A joint statement was also shared with PEOPLE, which read: “We both feel so incredibly lucky to have progressed from being colleagues, to friendship, to deep love and connection.”
“Each stage of our relationship has been underpinned by laughter and we share a passion for life.”
The pair met a few years ago when Charles was asked to review Cat’s 2021 nonfiction book, River Kings, which detailed the history of Vikings. Charles has authored nine books of similar interests, including the French conquest of Europe, the execution of Charles I, and even a memoir.
From their shared passion, they began collaborating on archeological digs and co-hosted a podcast together.
In October 2024, Charles and Cat confirmed their romance while appearing on Good Morning Britain.
This intimate wedding is the fourth time Charles has said ‘I do’.
He first wed former British model Victoria Lockwood in 1989. During their marriage, they welcomed four children together: Lady Catherine (otherwise known as Kitty) in 1990, twins Eliza and Lady Amelia in 1992, and Viscount Louis Frederick John Spencer in 1994.
Charles and Victoria divorced in 1997.

From 2001 to 2007, Charles married Caroline Freud and welcomed two children: Edmund in 2003, and Lady Lara in 2006.
Charles divorce to third wife Karen Spencer was filed in June 2024 and finalised in December 2025. During their fourteen years as a married couple, they welcomed Charles’ youngest and seventh child, Lady Charlotte Diana Spencer in 2012.
