King Charles & Prince Harry lead tributes to Princess Catherine after cancer announcement

'So proud of Catherine...'

The British Royal family have lead the tributes to Princess Catherine, after she shared a video announcement of her cancer diagnosis to Instagram.

Within hours, the comment section on the post was flooded with loving messages from royal watchers, with celebrities and political figures from across the globe sharing their well wishes.

In a statement released by Buckingham Palace, King Charles and Queen Camilla offered their support.

“His Majesty (HM) is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’,” the heartfelt statement starts.

“Following their time in hospital together, HM has ‘remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.’ Both Their Majesties (Charles and Queen Camilla) ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time’.”

Similarly, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex shared a statement.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” a spokesperson for the Sussex’s said.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese took to social media to offer Australia’s best wishes.

“My thoughts, and those of Australians, are with the Princess of Wales and her family following the news of her cancer diagnosis,” he shared in a post to Instagram.

“The Princess of Wales has shown extraordinary courage with her public statement today, in which she expresses her concern for others.

“We are sending support and strength in the difficult time as she undergoes treatment, and we wish her well for a speedy recovery.” 

Current British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak praised the Princess for her ‘tremendous bravery’ during this time. 

“The Princess of Wales has the love and support of the whole country as she continues her recovery,” he shared in a statement.

“She has shown tremendous bravery with her statement today.

“In recent weeks she has been subjected to intense scrutiny and has been unfairly treated by certain sections of the media around the world and on social media.

“When it comes to matters of health, like everyone else, she must be afforded the privacy to focus on her treatment and be with her loving family.”

The Princess’ cancer news comes just month’s after she underwent abdominal surgery in January, and the announcement of King Charles’ cancer diagnosis was shared in February.
