Yes, you read that correctly.
Woolworths, the Australian supermarket, will soon stock a bag designed by the Anya Hindmarch — whose luxury bags have been worn by the likes of the aforementioned Princess of Wales, Kate Moss, Jennifer Garner, Meghan Markle, Gigi Hadid, and even the late Princess Diana.
Of course, these royals and celebs usually opt for Anya’s high-end clutches and totes that can cost upwards of £100 (roughly AU$200). Whereas, Anya’s Universal Bag will only set you back AU$20.
The Universal Bag was first launched in 2021 to combat plastic waste, and is described as Anya’s “most ambitious sustainability project to date.” It is a spacious shopping bag made from 100 per cent recycled plastic.
Available in an emerald green, the Woolworths version of the Universal Bag is the 20th iteration. The bag has already been launched in an array of colours across supermarkets in Britain, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore.
And according to the Sydney Morning Herald, Universal Bags have — in the four years since its launch — been credited with saving more than 230 tonnes of plastic from landfills. This is something that is near and dear to Anya’s heart.
“My dream is that this becomes the bag that everyone uses so we can keep things from landfill,” she told the news outlet.

How do I get the Woolworths Universal Bag?
From March 18, 2025, Anya Hindmarch’s Universal Bag will be available in 600 Woolworths stores nationwide, but for a limited time only.
At this stage, you won’t be able to buy the bag online. You’ll have to physically go to a Woolworths store to snag one.
