Is there a season two of A Man on the Inside?
Yes! In December 2024, A Man on the Inside was renewed for a Season 2.
“We are thrilled to make another season,” series creator Michael Schur told Tudum.
He then joked that the new season will star, “young up-and-comer Ted Danson,” so it’s safe to say Ted is returning for Season 2.
Who else will star in A Man on the Inside Season 2?
At this stage, no official cast list has been released for Season 2 of A Man on the Inside.
With that being said though, as mentioned above, Michael confirmed that Ted will reprise his role as Charles.
We also think it’s likely that Lilah Richcreek Estrada and Mary Elizabeth Ellis will return as Julie, the private investigator, and Emily, Charles’ daughter.
Is A Man on the Inside a true story?
Yes! The plot of A Man on the Inside was based on a true story.
Widower Sergio Chamy worked with private eye Rómulo Aitken and went undercover as a resident at a nursing home in Chile.
However, the real-life case didn’t involve a stolen necklace.
A client hired Rómulo to find out whether their mother was being mistreated in the nursing home, and so Sergio – who was 83 at the time – became a ‘man on the inside’ and looked out for signs of the staff mistreating patients.
Ultimately, Sergio found that all patients were being treated well and made many friends during his time in the nursing home.
The Netflix documentary The Mole Agent chronicles Sergio’s amateur undercover mission, and A Man on the Inside was inspired by it.
How did Season 1 end?
If you’re not concerned about spoilers, read on.
Season 1 of A Man on the Inside ended with Charles figuring out that the necklace was never stolen.
Gladys began suffering from dementia and in the early stages of the disease, took the necklace thinking it was hers.
Then in the final moments, Charles got a phone call from Julie asking whether he’d be willing to once again go undercover on another case. He unsurprisingly agreed.
This ending perfectly set up Season 2, and we can’t wait to learn what this new case is; watch this space for a release date!
