After covering nearly three years worth of Amazon sales, I’ve developed what my friends (lovingly?) refer to as a slightly concerning relationship with Amazon’s deals page. My browser history is 90 per cent Amazon, 10 per cent trying to convince myself I don’t need a second air fryer just because it’s on sale.
But all those hours spent scrolling, price-checking and silently judging inflated prices have taught me exactly how to spot a real deal that’s worth sharing – and when to walk away.
This year, Aussie shoppers are getting something huge: a full seven days of Prime Big Deal Days. Kicking off at 00:01 AM on Tuesday, October 7 and running through to 11:59 PM on Monday, October 13, it’s the first major event on the Christmas sales calendar. So whether you’ve been holding off, forgot it was on, or just need one last nudge, now’s the time.
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by it all (or wondering whether that $400 vacuum is really 50 per cent off), don’t stress. Here is my no-nonsense guide to help you shop the latest Amazon sales, based on years of covering shopping deals, way too much screen time, and a mildly concerning knowledge of product pricing.
Skip ahead to the best Amazon sales:
- Beauty buys worth clicking on
- Tech deals that are actually good
- Exercise and fitness gear you’ll love
- Vacuum cleaners and robot vacs on sale
- Best home appliance Amazon sales
- Sleep and bedding upgrades for less
- Fashion, shoes and bags worth checking out
- Boring-but-useful essentials in the Amazon sales
Before you get started, always cross-check the price
One thing to keep in mind: not every “deal” is as dramatic as it looks. Some Amazon sales are genuinely great, while others can look bigger than they really are, depending on how the list price is displayed.
To be safe, I like to do a quick price check on a few other Aussie retailers like Myer, Big W, David Jones, Priceline, Chemist Warehouse, etc – especially for everyday products. If the Amazon price still comes out on top (and it usually does), great. If not, you’ll be glad you looked.
Add beauty buys to your cart early and refresh often
If you’re eyeing off cult brands like Dyson, ghd and Olaplex, Prime Big Deal Days is usually a good time for a bargain (but stock doesn’t always last). I recommend loading your cart now and checking back regularly, because once stock’s gone, it’s usually gone for good. It sounds intense, but it works.

Tech is where the real savings are
This is usually where the Amazon sales shine. Whether you’re after headphones, a new Kindle, robot vacuum or something to fix your dodgy home Wi-Fi, this is when big brands go hard. In the past, I’ve seen solid discounts on Apple, Bose, Samsung and of course, Amazon’s own range.

Say yes to Amazon Prime sleep upgrades
Prime Big Deal Days might not be the best time to splurge on designer sheets or a statement bedhead, but if you’re after practical upgrades, it’s well worth a look. We’re talking deals on mattresses, bed frames, mattress protectors, quilt cover sets and even those sunrise alarm clocks everyone swears by.
The Amazon sales we’ve seen so far are pretty solid, and the impact on your sleep (and sanity) can be surprisingly big.

Fashion, bags and shoes: Good if you know where to look in the Amazon sales
Prime fashion sales can be a bit hit and miss – but when it hits, it really hits. Think Levi’s jeans under $70, cult sunglasses brands, classic sneakers and the odd designer crossbody hiding in the mix.
In general, basics and well-known labels are where the value is. You can usually count on Levi’s, New Balance, Crocs, Fossil, Samsonite and even Coach for a good Amazon discount.
Just keep an eye on sizing – sometimes one colourway is 40 per cent off while the rest is full price. Bags and jewellery are also worth a scroll for everyday staples like minimalist gold huggies, crossbody bags, classic totes and luggage sets.

Stock up on “boring stuff” now so Future You doesn’t have to
It’s not glamorous, but Prime Big Deal Days is one of the best times to bulk-buy household basics. Dishwashing tablets, toilet paper, bin liners, face wash, micellar water – all the everyday stuff that somehow adds up fast.
A 20-30 per cent discount might not seem exciting, but when you’re still working through your stash in 2026, you’ll be thanking yourself.
Our top picks:

Cocobella Coconut Water 6 Pack
$33 at Amazon

The Collagen Co. Collagen Powder
$47 at Amazon

Philips Sonicare Electric Toothbrush Bundle

If it’s already on your wishlist and it’s on sale, just buy it
Sometimes prices do dip a little lower later in the sale, but it’s usually by five or ten bucks. If you see something you’ve had your eye on and the price looks decent, I recommend going for it (just in case it sells out). The stress of checking back every few hours isn’t always worth the tiny savings.
Do you need a membership to shop these Amazon sales?
Yes, make sure you’re geared up to shop these Amazon sales with a Prime membership. You can sign up for a 30-day free trial here to gain access to these sales, free shipping, Prime Video and select e-books too. After the trial, Prime membership costs $9.99 a month, or $79 if you get a yearly subscription, but you can cancel it at any time.
When does Prime Big Deal Days start and end?
Prime Big Deal Days runs from Tuesday, October 7 at 00:01 AM to Monday, October 13 at 11:59 PM, giving Aussies a full week of deals across tech, beauty, fashion, appliances and more.
How does Prime Big Deal Days compare to other sales?
Expect savings on par with major shopping events like Boxing Day and Black Friday – but with the added bonus of shopping it all in one place. And similar to Black Friday and Boxing Day, Prime Big Deal Days seems to keep getting a little bit longer each year.
The big difference with Big Deal Days is that it’s a member-only sale, with one of the biggest online retailers in the world. That gives Prime members access to a huge range of products and leading brands even department stores would be hard pressed to stock all at once. So whether you’re after big-ticket items, everyday essentials or cult beauty favourites, you can enjoy dock-to-door delivery and the convenience of shopping straight from your screen.
That said, I’ve found some categories give better savings than others. Want a robot vacuum, air fryer or household essentials? Now’s the time to snag a deal. If you’re hoping for half-price boucle armchairs or that Pinterest-y floor lamp? You’re probably better off waiting for Black Friday or Click Frenzy sales.
