Beloved singing competition, Australian Idol, will return our screens in 2027 along with some returning and new judges.
In previous years, Kyle Sandilands sat at the helm with Marcia Hines and Amy Shark to nurture new artists and achieve their dreams. However, Kyle will be departing the singing competition and his replacement has finally been confirmed by Channel Seven to be Morgan Evans.

Who are the judges for Australian Idol 2027?
Morgan Evans
International music star Morgan Evans is the newcomer of 2027, bringing his country charm to Australian Idol.
“I’m stoked to be joining Amy, Marcia and the Idol crew next year! I reckon if you’ve got music in you, that’s something the world needs to hear, and I’ve enjoyed helping new artists find that since I was teaching guitar in Newcastle,” he said.
“I’ve learned a lot in my travels, some of it the fun way, some of it the other way, and look forward to sharing what I can. Can’t wait to hear what Australia’s got!”
Raised in Newcastle, Australia, Morgan debuted his first self-titled album in 2014. His 2018 album, Things That We Drink To, achieved international acclaim and hit #1 on country radio with 3x platinum Kiss Somebody and 5x platinum Day Drunk.
Marcia Hines
Marcia Hines rose to fame in the 1970s, with many swooning over her singing talents. The 72-year-old is best known for her hits like You and I Just Don’t Know What to Do with Myself. She is also the mother of chart-topping singer Deni Hines.
She’s released an incredible 22 albums and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2007. In a previous interview with The Weekly, Marcia touched on her musical theatre career, particularly starring in Hair.
“I came to Australia for six months to perform in Hair. But it felt right, and I had a daughter while I was here, and a good support system because some of the kids in Hair had babies too, and I was able to bring my mother out. So, I felt comfortable here, and I stayed. Things – will I say they fell into place?” she said.
Marcia has an impressive history with Australian Idol, having been a judge from 2003 to 2009. She then returned in 2024.
Amy Shark
Amy Shark is an Australian singer-songwriter who first rose to fame in 2016 with her breakout hit Adore.
Her debut album Love Monster – released in 2018 – topped the ARIA charts and earned her multiple ARIA Awards.
Since then, Amy has collaborated with artists like Ed Sheeran, Keith Urban, and Travis Barker, and has been a judge on Australian Idol since 2023.
