Sometimes, a book is so good that you don’t want to leave that world; you don’t want to say goodbye to those characters…
Thankfully, many authors understand this and turn their books into series!
If you’re looking for a good book series to sink your teeth into, you’re in the right place; these are the best book series ever published according to The Weekly.
What is the best book series to read in 2024?
01
The Me Before You Series by Jojo Moyes
Many people may not realise that Jojo Moyes’ bestselling book Me Before You, which was adapted into a film of the same name starring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin, is actually a part of a series.
Two books that were released after Me Before You (After You and Still Me) continue Louisa Clark’s story and they’re just as well-written and captivating as the first book!
02
The Shopaholic Series by Sophie Kinsella
If you’re looking for a serious giggle and an insanely likeable protagonist, please pick up the Shopaholic series. The series follows Becky Bloomwood, a journalist who seriously loves to shop. The books in order include:
- Confessions of a Shopaholic
- Shopaholic Takes Manhattan
- Shopaholic Ties the Knot
- Shopaholic on Honeymoon
- Shopaholic and Sister
- Shopaholic and Baby
- Mini Shopaholic
- Shopaholic to the Stars
- Shopaholic to the Rescue
- Christmas Shopaholic
03
The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
Yes, Harry Potter is technically a children’s series, but the books are seriously good; even for adults! We highly recommend reading the series with your kids and/or grandkids – you’ll make lifelong memories.
04
The Thursday Murder Club Series by Richard Osman
This adorable yet compelling series follows a group of friends who live in a retirement community and solve murders. So far, there are four books in the series: The Thursday Murder Club, The Man Who Died Twice, The Bullet That Missed and The Last Devil to Die. I love this series so much, so here’s hoping for more books!
05
The Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn
The hit Netflix series Bridgerton is based on this book series. Set in the regency-era, each book follows a Bridgerton sibling as they fall in love. Beware though: there’s a bit of smut involved…

06
The Practical Magic Series by Alice Hoffman
Did you know the cult classic film Practical Magic, that stars Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, was based on a book series? Well, it was!
Before the sequel film is released, make sure you catch up on the books; which you can either read in release date order – Practical Magic, The Rules of Magic, Magic Lessons, The Book of Magic – or in chronological order – Magic Lessons, The Rules of Magic, Practical Magic, The Book of Magic.
07
The Millennium Series by Stieg Larsson
As of 2024, there are now seven books in the Millennium series: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye, The Girl Who Lived Twice and The Girl in the Eagle’s Talons.
To be perfectly honest though, you can just read the first three books. It works as a complete trilogy and I found the other books in the series hard to get into – perhaps because they were written by different authors? Yes, Stieg Larsson planned to have 10 instalments in the the Millennium series but had only written the first three before his sudden death.
