Royals, politicians and more gather around the victims of the Bondi Beach shooting

"But we as a nation are stronger than the cowards who did this."

Following the shooting at Bondi Beach on December 14, 2025, during a Jewish celebration, many politicians, royal families and celebrities have shared tributes in honour of the victims and those impacted. 

The Prince and Princess of Wales

In a personal message, Princess Catherine and Prince William shared their condolences to the family and friends of the victims. 

“Our thoughts are with every Australian today following the terrible attack at Bondi Beach,” the statement began. 

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and stand with the Jewish community in grief. We are also thinking about the bravery of the emergency responders, particularly the two injured officers. W & C,” they concluded.

Princess Anne

On behalf of the Princess Royal, the Govenor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia Sam Mostyn shared a statement to Instagram.

“The Princess Royal has asked me to write and express her shock and sadness in relation to the shootings at Bondi Beach, New South Wales on 14th December. Her Royal Highness sends her condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and her hopes for a speedy recovery to all those who were injured,” the statement read. “The Princess Royal would also like to pay tribute to the first responders and members of the public who put themselves in harms way to help others.”

“Her Royal Highness is aware of the devastating effect that this tragedy will have had within the local and wider community and sends all those affected by this tragedy her sympathy at this difficult time.”

King Charles and Queen Camilla

King Charles shared a statement to Instagram following the horrific attack.

“My wife and I are appalled and saddened by the most dreadful antisemitic terrorist attack on Jewish people attending the Chanukah celebration at Bondi Beach,” the British monarch began. 

“Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected so dreadfully, including the police officers who were injured while protecting members of their community. We commend the police, emergency services and members of the public whose heroic actions no doubt prevented even greater horror and tragedy. 

“In times of hurt, Australians always rally together in unity and resolve. I know that the spirit of community and love that shines so brightly in Australia – and the light at the heart of the Chanukah Festival – will always triumph over the darkness of such evil.” 

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese 

Shortly after the attack, Anthony Albanese shared a statement, condemning it as an “act of evil antisemitism”. The Prime Minister called an urgent meeting of the cabinet’s National Security Committee in Canberra. 

“This was an attack deliberately targeted at the Jewish community on the first day of Chanukah, which of course should be a joyous celebration. The Jewish community are hurting today. Today, all Australians wrap our arms around them and say, we stand with you. We will do whatever is necessary to stamp out antisemitism. It is a scourge and we will eradicate it together,” he said.

The Prime Minister noted the Australian Federal Police and ASIO were working closely with the NSW authorities to respond to the horrific event. 

“To the brave first responders, including ordinary citizens who acted yesterday – thank you for what you do. People rushing towards danger to show the best of the Australian character. That’s who we are, people who stand up for our values,” he continued. 

“Flags will fly at half-mast across the country today as we pay our respects to all those lost and all those who have been injured. And we conclude by saying that yesterday was indeed a dark day in our nation’s history. But we as a nation are stronger than the cowards who did this.”

Anthony continued to thank the many world leaders who have reached out, sharing their condolences. 

“We thank you for your sympathy and your solidarity with our values. Australia will never submit to division, violence or hatred and we will come through this together. We refuse to let them divide us as a nation,” he concluded. 

The Danish royal family 

King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark shared their condolences to both Australians and the Jewish community. 

“We and the people of Denmark are profoundly saddened by the traffic news of the terror attack at Bondi Beach today. We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all those affected, their loved ones, the people of Australia and the Jewish community,” the wrote, before signing it off with Frederik and Mary. 

Later, while at the Copenhagen Opera House for the Into Change Awards, Australian-born Queen Mary held back tears as she commented on the attack.

“Our family is deeply shocked by the brutal attack at Bondi Beach. Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go to all those affected, the Australian and Jewish community,” she said, translated from Danish to English.

Australian National Imams Council

The Australian National Imams Council is a Islamic body that represents Australian-based Muslim Imams, Shaykhas and Islamic communities.

“The Australian National Imams Council, the Council of Imams NSW and the Australian Muslim community unequivocally condemn the horrific shootings in Bondi,” a statement read. “These acts of violence and crimes have no place in our society. Those responsible must be held fully accountable and face the full force of the law.”

“Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and all those who witnessed or were affected by this deeply traumatic attack. We acknowledge the pain, fear, and distress felt across the community and extend our sincere compassion and support to all who are grieving.

“We urge the community to remain vigilant, exercise caution, and support one another during this challenging time.

“This is a moment for all Australians, including the Australian Muslim community, to stand together in unity, compassion, and solidarity, rejecting violence in all its forms and affirming our shared commitment to social harmony and the safety of all Australians,” they concluded.

Oprah Winfrey

In early December, Oprah Winfrey visited Australia for her speaking tour. During which she walked along Bondi Beach, capturing and sharing these moments on Instagram. With the news of the terror attack, Oprah shared a message on Instagram.

“I just spent the last two weeks in Australia, walking Bondi just days ago feeling the openness and ease that lives there. It’s hard to reconcile that sense of peace with the terror of last night. My heart breaks for the victims, their families and loved ones, and all you Aussies,” she wrote.

What happened at the Bondi Beach shooting? 

As of December 15, 2025, 9am, 15 victims had lost their lives to the violent attack. 

The Bondi shooters are reportedly father and son. One of the shooters were apprehended at the scene and was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition. The other died at the scene.
