Australian-British actress Naomi Watts is set to release a new book on menopause titled Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known about Menopause, which will hit bookstores on January 21, 2025.
The book, which marks Watts’ first venture into writing, is a personal account of her own experience with menopause. Watts began experiencing menopause at just 36 years old, much earlier than most women, who typically begin the transition between ages 45 and 55.
In the book, she aims to address the silence and stigma that often surround menopause, a natural stage of life that affects millions of women globally. “Women have had to suffer in silence and shame for too long about the changes they undergo during menopause, with little access to information, support, or even much of an open conversation,” Watts told People magazine.
Dare I Say It not only shares Watts’ personal journey but also includes conversations with friends, insights from experts, and a foreword by Dr Mary Claire Haver. The book is designed to be a resource for women navigating menopause, offering practical advice and comfort. Watts hopes it will help women feel “a little less alone, a little more supported, and dare I say, a little more excited about the natural changes that life has in store for us.”
In addition to her book, Watts has been a vocal advocate for menopause awareness. In 2022, she founded her wellness brand, Stripes Beauty, which focuses on menopausal wellness. Through her brand and her writing, Watts is committed to breaking down the taboos surrounding menopause and encouraging open conversations about this often-overlooked phase of life.
Dare I Say It: Everything I Wish I’d Known about Menopause is available for pre-order now and will be widely available in bookstores early next year.
