What’s the difference between the Bridgerton TV show and the books?
There are many differences between Bridgerton and the Julia Quinn book series upon which it was based. We’ve analysed the differences between the show and the books in great detail here.
Is there a 4th season of Bridgerton?
Yes, there will be a Season 4; the series was renewed for its fourth season in April 2021. You can read more about Season 4 here.
Furthermore, there will eventually be a Season 5 and 6 too; Netflix renewed the show for two more seasons in May 2025.
Is there a Bridgerton podcast?
Yes! As of January, 2026, there is an official Bridgerton podcast hosted by Alison Hammond, who you might recognise as a presenter on The Great British Baking Show. Unofficial podcasts have been floating around since season 1, but this is the first one from Netflix.
The podcasts will be available wherever you get your podcasts, and episodes will be released weekly. The guests will be the stars of the show and the people behind the scenes, including Shonda Rimes.

What happened in Season 3 of Bridgerton?
Season 3 followed the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington. In the first half of the season, Penelope is determined to find a suitor and so enlists her best friend Colin to coach her on how to win a man’s affections.
However, Colin begins to develop feelings for Penelope himself. He ends up ruining Penelope’s chances of getting engaged to Lord Debling and professes his love for her. Then Colin and Penelope share an incredibly steamy moment in a carriage, which ends with Colin proposing marriage.
In the second half, the news of Colin and Penelope’s impending marriage spreads like wildfire throughout the Ton. And everyone is elated, except Eloise. She thinks it’s unfair for Penelope to marry Colin without first telling him she is Lady Whistledown.
Plus, Eloise warns Penelope that the news will inevitably come out because of Queen Charlotte; she is offering a £5,000 reward to anyone who unmasks Lady Whistledown.

Ultimately, Colin finds out Penelope is Lady Whistledown when he catches her going to the print shop to publish a column about Cressida (she claimed she was Lady Whistledown for the Queen’s reward).
At first, he is furious and says, while he’ll still marry her, he’ll never forgive her. But on the wedding day, the two reconcile. However, when Cressida finds out Penelope is Lady Whistledown and blackmails her, Colin becomes icy towards his wife once more.
In the end, Penelope reveals her secret identity to the whole Ton and offers Colin an annulment. But he admits he was just jealous of her success and is over it now. Flash forward at the end of Season 3, they have a baby boy and are an incredibly happy little family.

What happened in Season 2 of Bridgerton?
Season 2 shifted focus to Anthony, Daphne’s elder brother and the head of the Bridgerton family. Determined to fulfil his duty by finding a wife, Anthony becomes entangled with the Sharma sisters, Kate and Edwina.
Initially, Anthony pursues Edwina – he thinks she’d make the perfect viscountess – and the couple end up getting engaged. However, during his courtship with Edwina, Anthony and Kate undergo the classic enemies-to-lovers trope.
Then, during Anthony and Edwina’s wedding ceremony, Edwina realises Anthony has feelings for Kate and calls off the wedding.
In the end, Anthony and Kate end up tying the knot, with Edwina’s blessing.
Also in Season 2, both Eloise and Queen are determined to find out who Lady Whistledown is. At one point, the Queen suspects Eloise is the gossip columnist and threatens her. In an attempt to save her best friend, Penelope (AKA Lady Whistledown) writes a newsletter about Eloise consorting with “political radicals”. But this spreads like wildfire in the Ton and Eloise is humiliated and shunned.

Ultimately, Eloise finds out Penelope is behind Lady Whistledown and becomes furious at her.
What happened in Season 1 of Bridgerton?
Season 1 focused on Daphne, the eldest daughter of the prestigious Bridgerton family, as she entered the competitive marriage market of Regency-era London.
Hoping to secure a suitable match, Daphne and the mysterious Duke of Hastings, Simon Bassett, struck a deal to pretend to form an attachment. The ruse was supposed to attract worthy suitors for Daphne and keep ambitious mothers and their daughters away from Simon.
However, Daphne and Simon quickly began developing genuine feelings for one another and ultimately marry.
Furthermore, the season is narrated by the mysterious columnist Lady Whistledown (voiced by Julie Andrews), who writes scandalous newsletters detailing the gossip of the Ton. It’s revealed to viewers at the end of the season that wallflower Penelope Featherington is Lady Whistledown.
Is there a Bridgerton spinoff?
Yes! Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is a prequel that tells the story of how Charlotte ended up meeting and marrying King George.
