Prince William and Princess Catherine could be straying from tradition in 2026 as their eldest son, Prince George prepares to start secondary school.
Royal watchers have eagerly awaited to discover where the young Prince will attend school. Many believed the 12-year-old would follow in his father’s footsteps, enrolling at Eton College.

Eton College, located in Windsor, is a reasonable distance from their current home in Forrest Lodge. The Wales’ family relocated to the lodge in November 2025.
However, sources are now contradicting this, telling Vanity Fair that Marlborough, a coed boarding school as attended by Princess Catherine from 14 to 18 years of age, is the preferred choice.
“While Eton would be the obvious choice because it is on their doorstep and where William went, they are leaning towards other schools. I’m hearing Marlborough is the front-runner,” the source claimed.
Both options are boarding schools with plenty of land and housing for royal protection officers. Security would naturally be at the front of mind for the Prince and Princess of Wales. As a result, Ingrid Seward, the editor in chief of Majesty, suggested the public most likely won’t know where George will continue his education until the “very last minute.”

In the UK, the school year doesn’t start until September as opposed to Australia which begins around February.
Given such safety protocols, Kensington Palace has neither confirmed or denied where Prince George will be attending school.
However, Princess Catherine was spotted visiting several schools in 2025, ahead of Prince George’s final year at Lambrook School. Such schools included University College School in Hampstead, and Highgate School which is located in the same area.
