As the eldest child of Prince William and Princess Catherine, Prince George occupies a unique position in the line of succession, destined to one day inherit the throne.
Born on July 22 in 2013, we’ve all watched George go from adorable baby to cheeky toddler to caring older brother – his parents welcomed Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.
Nowadays, George is starting to become a responsible young man – and was even heavily involved in his grandfather King Charles’ coronation as a Page of Honour.
But in September 2025, Prince William did tease that George is “completely different” behind closed doors and “knows how to behave” during a visit to the National Federation of the Women’s Institute.
Read on to learn everything you need to know about Prince George and see the best photos of the young royal.

What is Prince George’s name now?
Prince George’s name is still what it was when he was born: George Alexander Louis.
In a new book about the Waleses titled William and Catherine, The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story, releasing March 10, author Russell Myers said the parents debated for “hours” on what to call their child.
Excerpts published by The Mirror revealed Princess Catherine was eager on Alexander or Alexandra, while Prince William wanted to tribute his late mother Princess Diana, if they had a girl.
“Catherine had her heart set on Alexander for a boy or Alexandra (also Queen Elizabeth’s middle name) for a girl. William had privately voiced his preference for having a girl, and was keen to incorporate a tribute to his late mother, most likely in the form of a middle name,” Russell wrote in his novel.
Eventually, William decided on two boy names: George or Louis, Russell wrote.
How old is Prince George now?
Prince George is currently 12 years old. His birthday is on July 22.
What will George be called when King?
When – or if – George becomes King one day, he will likely be called King George VII. Of course, as per royal tradition, he could choose to go by one of his other given names and be called either King Alexander or King Louis.
