Chrissie Swan fans can finally be put at ease as the popular radio host and columnist shared a health update today.
She has been missing from The Chrissie Swan Show on NOVA for some time, and many were reaching out to her to find out what is happening. We at The Weekly were made aware of the situation, but kept silent as per Chrissie’s wishes.
Today, Chrissie confirmed that she had suffered a “medical emergency” and was “in the hospital for ages”, but she reassured her fans that she was recovering.
“Today I feel the best I’ve felt in weeks/months,” she said in a video posted to her Instagram. “I’ve been resting at home, getting better, lots of sleep, lots of reading, lots of, you know, sorting out the spice drawer finally,” she added.

Former Today Show presenter Sarah Abo has been taking a break from maternity leave and filling in for Chrissie on the radio show. Chrissie addressed whether she would be returning to the airwaves.
“As soon as I am better, I will be back,” she affirmed. “And in the meantime, cat content, other bits and pieces… Thank you for all your beautiful messages.”
She also apologised in her caption for worrying her fans.
“Sorry to cause so much concern – it was a worry for me too. But I’m heading in the right direction.”
An insider confirmed to Woman’s Day that the health scare made her “reflect” on life.
“It really gave Chrissie a fright and has prompted her to take a step back and reflect on a lot of things. She’s doing okay and has plenty of support around her as she takes some much-needed time out from her radio duties. For now, she’s taking things day by day and focusing on what matters most: her health and wellbeing.”
It’s something she talks about in her upcoming Life Lessons column in the next issue of The Australian Women’s Weekly (out on 2 November, 2026) as her health scare reminds her of a time when her mother picked her up early from a party.
“I realised that leaving the party early, by surprise, missing out on all the things I was looking forward to and considered to be guaranteed, had almost happened again. Only this time the party was my actual life.”

Last month, her co-star on The Chrissie Swan Show, Jack Charles, announced that he was leaving the network after 11 years.
“I was able to share this news with Chrissie before she became unwell,” he said on-air. “We had a lot of long chats about it, and she was incredibly supportive.”
