Api Robin, formerly known as Celeste Barber’s famously “Hot Husband”, has announced that the couple have broken up.
In a statement posted to his Instagram page, Api wrote the following:
“The past few months have been incredibly challenging and deeply heartbreaking for us both. After much reflection, the decision has been made to separate. There is still love and respect between us, but sadly we are at capacity and have come to recognise we may want for different things. Our priority remains our children and their well-being. We kindly ask for privacy and understanding as we navigate this.”
Api Robin’s Instagram bio now reads: “Formerly Hot Husband”.
Celeste and Api have been together for over 20 years. They met in Sydney at a pub where Celeste, then aged 21, was working. He was 30 and had two daughters, Sahra and Kyah, then aged two and four.
The Weekly interviewed their family, Celeste, Api and their sons, Lou (then 13) and Buddy (then 10), when Celeste was the December 2024 cover star of the magazine.
“I was a young 30,” says Api in that interview, “so I just think we were fairly similar in age [despite the gap].”
The couple embarked on a long-distance relationship (as Api was living on the mid-North Coast), and Celeste became a stepmother to his daughters.
“It was super hard,” says Celeste, looking back on that time. “I love those girls so much. They’re in their 20s now, and they say to me, ‘I don’t know how you did that’.” She says the four children are “obsessed with each other – it’s very sweet, their relationship”.

They married in Bali in 2013, after more than a decade together.
In recent years, Celeste’s career has taken off. Her beauty brand Booie is now being stocked in Woolworths, and she recently hosted the AACTA Awards.
“We had a conversation really early on about our hopes and dreams and how we see ourselves,” Celeste said in our interview in 2024.
“I said, ‘I really want to work in this industry. It’s my dream. And I’m going to actively work toward that’. Api was like, ‘Well, I really want us to have a family, and I would love to raise our children and support you in that’. And we decided, let’s have this big life together.”

“We’re just desperately in love with each other. Sometimes to a fault,” said Celeste at the time.
“We just love each other, so we will make it work,” she continued. “It’s super lucky, especially now, getting the success that we’ve got. There’s no way it would be this great if I was doing it on my own. I’ve no interest in that at all.”
Sadly, it appears that their schedules and dreams no longer align, and they want “different things”.
On 10 March 2026, Celeste finally commented on the news that they had split. She shared a video on her Instagram stories to chat about her Booie You’re Welcome mascara, “and that’s all we’re going to talk about,” she said in the video.
However, she shared that the reason she loves her Booie tubular mascara is that it is waterproof; “Which I can absolutely vouch for,” she said in the video. “I’ve been giving the waterproofness a run for its money lately.”
But then she leans in close to the camera and thanks her followers for their messages.
“Thank you for all your messages, you’ve been really lovely, I really appreciate it.”
