Danika revealed that she and her partner Liam Knight are expecting a little girl, adding “off-season will be a little bit busier this year.”

“We feel so honoured to be brought into your households every single morning, so when there’s news here, it’s nice to share it with you guys first before the rest of the world gets to hear about it,” Danika said.

“So Liam and I are expecting a little girl, due December.

“Liam’s over the moon, he’s so excited and he’s ready to be a girl dad,” she added.

The lovebirds went public with their relationship in October  2024 with Danika sharing pictures of their trip to Paris on Instagram.

It is unclear how exactly they met, but Liam is a professional rugby league and former NRL player – so their paths were destined to cross. However, in the beginning of their relationship, they had to navigate long-distance with Liam based in the UK playing for Hull FC.

He returned to Australia in 2026 when he was released from his contract. But love knows no bounds because he proposed in October 2025 on a beach in Sardinia, Italy.

“Some exciting news … ❤️,” Danika casually wrote on Instagram at the time.

Flash forward less than a year later, Danika immediately knew when she fell pregnant because of a certain craving.

“It’s so funny, the moment that I knew I was pregnant, I had a chicken schnitzel craving – I just honestly, all I could think about was chicken schnitzel,” she said.

Funnily enough, only a few weeks before Danika’s pregnancy announcement, she revealed to nine.com.au that she hadn’t started planning the wedding because she was so busy. Perhaps the pregnancy news caused some disruptions!

“We’re in the middle of footy season and things have just gotten busier and busier, so we’re thinking we’re going to do it next year,” she said.

The 35-year-old has passed the morning sickness phase of her pregnancy. She then thanked the network for being “so supportive” as she “[vomited] on the way to work.”

Her co-worker, Sarah Abo would be familiar with the ups and downs of pregnancy given she is expecting her first baby too. The Today co-host is set to depart on maternity leave in August.

When exactly Danika will go on maternity leave remains unclear. However, this will be Nine’s third Today show replacement in 2026 given Karl Stefanovic was suddenly fired.
