Delta Goodrem has been in the spotlight since she was young, thanks to her incredible singing voice, impressive songwriting skills and various forays into acting (most notably, Delta played Nina Tucker on Neighbours).
But despite living most of her life in the public eye, Delta has wisely kept her love life rather private… Case in point: Delta Goodrem has been in a relationship with her now-husband Matthew Copley for well over six years and yet has never spoken about him in great detail or made a red carpet debut with him.
While the pair are still confused on the length of their relationship, “7 or 8 years” Delta said on the Begin Again podcast in 2025, there is nothing but love between the pair.
In fact, when The Weekly sat down with Delta, she, understandably, didn’t want to talk too much about Matthew and, when asked about him, very politely explained:
“He’s my guitarist. I met him through music. It’s incredible to be on stage with him because he’s so talented. We really are a team. He’s my best friend, he’s kind and just a beautiful human being. But I learnt quite young that I enjoy keeping part of that private.
“I’ve always been so understanding that I’ve lived in the public eye since I was a teenager, but also I think it’s nice to keep some things to yourself.”
Delta has, however, offered her fans small glimpses into their relationship over the years. Here are some of the couple’s sweetest moments together (including the moment Matthew proposed to Delta on September 21, 2023!)

Delta and Matthew began dating in 2017 but waited until 2018 to go public with their relationship; they both shared this snap on Instagram on New Year’s Eve in 2018.

During the 2020 and 2021 COVID lockdowns, Delta and Matthew would regularly live stream themselves performing mini-concerts from Delta’s apartment. They called them the ‘Bunkerdown Sessions’.

During the Bunkerdown Sessions, Matthew would play guitar and Delta would sing (and sometimes play piano), and the couple performed a mix of Delta’s own songs and covers.

In honour of the last show of the Bridge Over Troubled Dreams Australian tour, Matthew posted several photos of him and Delta, and wrote, “I love you”.

Delta and Matthew went to Uluru in May 2023. Matt posted this picture on Instagram along with the caption, “So incredible getting to witness this sacred land!”

On July 19, 2023, Matthew posted this stunning picture of himself and Delta, and wrote, “Getting to play music anywhere is special for me, playing music anywhere with my love is even better, playing music with my love with my family in Malta was so incredible!
“But yesterday’s performance was important for more reasons [than] 1. With an incredible team around us that we could not do any of this without, Delta and I started ATLED records and premiered the first song live on stage! What a day ..!!!!”

During the European leg of Delta’s Bridge Over Troubled Dreams tour in July 2023, Matthew posted several sweet pictures of him and Delta enjoying their down time. This is them in London.

For Matthew’s birthday, on September 9, 2023, Delta posted a loving tribute on Instagram.

“Another year around the sun!! On tour, on your birthday! Happy birthday to my best friend and favourite human in the whole wide world. My [world] @matthew.copley,” Delta wrote.

On September 21, 2023, Delta and Matthew got engaged! The singer shared the exciting news on her Instagram and wrote, “My best friend asked me to marry him,” alongside this stunning image of the couple’s intimate moment.

Wedding Bells
On 10 July 2025, Delta shared photos from the couple’s wedding day in Malta!
She also wrote: “It was more magical than we both could have dreamed. We said I do under the Maltese skies in a family fairytale wedding brought to life by so many angels surrounding us. We are holding on to every memory from that moment, the love, the laughter, the happy tears and dancing till the sun came up.”
And despite their musical talents, Delta revealed she had “no intention of singing.”
“We are blessed to get to do what we love on stage and sharing that is the best ever, so I didn’t feel the need to do that at the wedding,” she told the Herald Sun in November.
“All my family and friends, I ask them to come to shows all the time, they don’t need that for my wedding.”

First Delta and Matt were co-workers, and then best friends before they ever became romantic.
While speaking on the Begin Again podcast with Davina McCall, the singer reflected on the first time she met her now-husband.
“Matt came [to the studio to audition] in 2016, and just came in to play guitar. I was like ‘yes. I have a hot guitarist!’,” she laughed. “He was so prepared and focused on learning the songs.”
“He was just genuinely himself because he really loves music, and we became best friends first. It was, without a doubt friendship first.”
