If you’re on the hunt for your next binge watch, here are our favourite Kitty Flanagan television shows and where to watch them.

Who is Kitty Flanagan?

Kitty Flanagan is an Australian writer, comedian and actress. Born in Sydney in 1968, Kitty began her career as a copywriter before turning to stand-up comedy in the 1990s.

The producer of Full Frontal spotted one of her performances, and she joined the cast as a writer and performer in 1995. She left about a year later to focus on stand-up but continued to write and perform in various shows. Kitty then went international and started to become a frequent comedian on the circuit, touring around the UK, Ireland, and South Africa. She returned to Australia in 2009 but continued to tour around the world.

Kitty has written for and appeared on a variety of television shows, from The Project to The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, Have You Paying Attention, and Thank God You’re Here.

She is part of a very creative family. Her father is the author John Flanagan, best known for the Ranger’s Apprentice series. And her sister is Penny Flanagan, a singer-songwriter and author who has joined Kitty on her stand-up tour. Penny wrote music for and performed in the shows. Their brother shows his creativity differently, running a coffee shop in Japan.

Kitty Flanagan’s best shows and performances:

Fisk (2021–present)

If there’s one show that has truly elevated Kitty to household-name status, it’s Fisk. Created by and starring Kitty herself, the ABC comedy follows Helen Tudor-Fisk, a no-nonsense lawyer navigating the quietly chaotic world of wills and probate law.

Set in a suburban law firm, the series thrives on awkward silences, deadpan exchanges and painfully relatable office dynamics. It’s a masterclass in understated comedy.

The show has been a critical and ratings success, earning multiple AACTA Awards and a loyal fanbase who delight in its low-key brilliance.

A fourth season hasn’t been confirmed. However, after winning five TV WEEK Logie awards at the 2025 event, Kitty spoke with the Sydney Morning Herald and confirmed that she would do another season.

“It’s just a matter of everyone finding the time,” Kitty said. “It’s an incredible group, and it doesn’t really work without the whole group.”

Utopia (2014–2023)

In this satirical take on government bureaucracy, Kitty plays Rhonda Stewart, the media manager. Her character often ignores priorities, favouring fads or popular trends. She often sides with the government liaison Jim Gibson (played by Anthony Lehmann) on grandiose, often unachievable government projects that will make for great headlines in the press.

The award-winning series also stars Celia Pacquola, Rob Sitch, Luke McGregor and other very recognisable faces.

The show hasn’t been officially cancelled, but the last season aired in 2023.

Charming and Alarming (2010)

A comedy special of some of Kitty’s best stand-up that is complemented by music created and performed by her sister. It’s 60 minutes of “cracking stories” and “hard laughs” while Kitty wears a “sparkly cardiagan and ill-fitting trousers.”

Where to watch: Apple TV from $4.99

The Weekly with Charlie Pickering (2015–present)

Kitty was a regular on this satirical news show until 2019. She left in the final episode of season four but returned for a special appearance in The Yearly with Charlie Pickering. She was a beloved figure on the show and actually came back as a guest for the 2026 finale episode to promote her new show, Bad Company with Anne Edmonds.

Bad Company (2026–?)

We know we may be jumping the gun, but after seeing the trailer for this new show, we reckon it could be her next great performance!

In the new ABC series, Kitty plays a no-nonsense businesswoman brought in to help save the Argle Theatre, which is being brought to financial ruin thanks in part to its experimental, wildly creative artistic director, played by Anne Edmonds.
