Warning: Minor spoilers lie ahead for Only Murders in the Building
Who’s ready to return to The Arconia? And by that we mean, who’s ready for a new season of Only Murders in the Building?
The award-winning series that stars Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez has been greenlit for a Season 4 and new details about it have recently emerged.
Craig Erwich, Disney Television Group President, spoke to Deadline and shared that the upcoming season will see our favourite trio abandon New York and The Arconia, and instead head to California.
“I’m very excited to see Steve, Martin and Selena take a little break from the apartment building and come to Los Angeles,” he said.
“So in the same way that [series co-creator] John Hoffman used the canvas of Broadway to tell what I think was one of the most unique seasons you’ve ever seen, the same unique Only Murders take will be applied to Los Angeles.”
The new setting for Season 4 makes sense considering at the end of Season 3, Selena’s Mabel Mora was asked to accompany her boyfriend Tobert to LA.
Plus, Martin’s Oliver Putnam encouraged his love interest Loretta Durkin (played by the iconic Meryl Streep) to take a job in LA; so perhaps, Oliver will visit Loretta while the trio’s there in Season 4…
Is there a Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building cast?
Obviously, the series regulars – Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez – have been confirmed for the Only Murders in the Building Season 4 cast.
Meryl Streep is also set to return and reprise her Season 3 role, Loretta.
Eugene Levy, Eva Longoria, Zach Galifianakis, Molly Shannon and Kumail Nanjiani have also been confirmed for Season 4 but the roles they will play haven’t been disclosed yet.
It’s likely that Jane Lynch will appear in Season 4 too, as the cliffhanger for Season 3 was her character Sazz Pataki dying – and that mystery will have to be unravelled in the new season – but nothing’s been confirmed yet.
What is the release date of Season 4 of Only Murders in the Building?
Sadly, nothing has been confirmed yet.
But considering that seasons 1, 2 and 3 of Only Murders in the Building all premiered in a winter month, it’s likely that Season 4 will be released in either June, July or August in 2024. Watch this space!
